AMERK DOUG JANIK ADDED TO PLANETUSA AHL ALL-STAR TEAM

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans defenseman Doug Janik was added to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team today for the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic, to be played Feb. 8-9 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Janik will join Amerks Jason Pominville and Ryan Miller at the All-Star Classic. It is the first time the Amerks defenseman has been honored by the AHL with an All-Star selection.
This season, Janik has one goal and 10 assists in 45 games for the Amerks. The Amerks alternate captain has also played in two games with the Buffalo Sabres during his latest recall (January 9th and January 11th).
During the 2002-03 campaign, Janik played in 75 games with the Amerks and registered three goals, 13 assists, and 16 points. The Agawam, Mass., native also appeared in six games with Buffalo, making his NHL debut with the Sabres on March 14, 2003.
In 2001-02, Janik played in all 80 games and was named the Amerks’ Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player and Unsung Hero.
Janik was Buffalo's second-round selection (55th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He played his college hockey for the University of Maine and was a member of the 1999 NCAA Division I championship team.
