Question: Should we draft for need or should we follow the adage of taking the best availble player, provided he is not a RB?

Best available player all the way, IMHO. If two or more players available are very close and the top players available, then pick by positional need, but almost never should a team pass up a better player to pick a lesser player at a need position.
The big caveat to this is:
* Each team has different criteria for judging who is the best.
* There are so many things that go into evaluating players that it is not clear cut who is best.
For example: When it comes to pick 13 this year, I'll bet that if you polled all 31 teas as to who was the best remaining player available, you would probably get 10-15 different answers.

I just recieved Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft and, as always, their evaluations are different that Great Blue North or NFL Draftblitz or an array of other sites! The beauty of draft day!!! My feeling is that best available is usually discovered when you take a team like the New York Giants and EVERYBODY has them tabbing Robert Gallery on April 24th! Watch for Mel Kipers' jaw to drop when (or I should say IF) they select Tommie Harris #4. First off, you'll have Mel with his "vein in the forhead look" because he couldn't be wrong! I love THAT part!! Then Golic will add his 2 pennies and then Mel's board is put assunder! GREAT STUFF!
