Stars want trade
TheFourthPeriod.com
When Doug Armstrong attends the NHL general managers’ meetings in Las Vegas seven days from now, he won’t come back a broken man, reports the Star-Telegram.
With Dallas’ recent surge, a bruising winger with a mean streak could find a home with the Stars. An even bigger priority is a left-handed defenseman to help on the powerplay.
Players such as Buffalo’s Alexei Zhitnik, Carolina’s Bret Hedican and Anaheim’s Sandis Ozolinsh fit the bill, and their names probably will be swirling in trade winds over the next 30 days.
“I don’t know if it’s a powerplay specialist, but, whoever we bring in, if we do, has to play in a five-on-five, too,” Armstrong told the Star-Telegram.

We should know more by the end of the month, but as it stands now, Zhitnik isn't going anywhere. Did you happen to see he a Kalinin out there against the Rangers?

The writer was just pulling names out of a hat.
I wouldn't put too much stock in this "rumor".

why would the stars want campbell who will never be more then at best a 7th defenceman or a career minor leaguer who once a while gets to play a couple of games.

Because they would have to take his salary if I was going to trade Zhitnik.
Besides, he's a Colaiacovo clone.

Coloviaco is a better prospect then what Campbell was and is

As junior players, both did about the same their first two years in junior hockey. In Campbell's third year, he exploded from .65 PPG to .8 PPG. In Campbell's fourth year, he was the best player in the CHL, something Colaiacovo has yet to do, and will never do. He averaged 1.4 PPG, dominating Colaiacovo's 1 PPG.
Physical size:
Colaiacovo: 6'1", 188 lbs.
Campbell: 6'0", 190 lbs.
The same stature, and the same type of game.
Cola today: 2003-04 St. John's Maple Leafs AHL 38 4 16 20 26
pretty much matches Campbell back in the day:
2000-01 Rochester Americans AHL 65 7 25 32
Brian Campbell was a top 50 prospect in 2001, and the 18th best defenseman prospect. Colaiacovo was the 20th best defenseman prospect:

Want another donut, homer?
I don't want to trade Z for Brian Campbell, part deux.

There are a few major flaws in your Campbell to Colaiacovo comparison:
1) Brian Campbell was never a stalwart on Team Canada WJC squads like Colaiacovo.
2) Campbell was a 6th round draft pick. Colaiacovo was a 1st rounder.
3) Colaiacovo is also a lot more productive offensively in his first AHL season than Campbell was in his.
4) I don't believe that Campbell was an AHL All Star in his rookie year in the AHL.
Colaiacovo will be a much better NHLer than Campbell ever will.
