players practically guaranteed to go before we pick:

Eli Manning
Ben Roethlesburger
Larry Fitzgerald
Robert Gallery
4

second group:

Roy Williams
Sean Taylor
6

might be picked earlier or around our spot:

Kellen Winslow
Reggie Williams
Shawn Andrews
Tommie Harris
10

List of players that have a decent shot of being available or taking up one of the previous picks:

Will Smith
Vince Wilfork
Kenechi Udeze
Chris Gamble depending on free agency
Stephen Jackson
Jonathon Vilma
Phillip Rivers
Michael Jenkins
Michael Clayton
19

in bold are players we are likely to take if available.

that leaves 3-5 guys possibly left unpicked in this group when we pick. It's not a gurantee all the players we may target are there, and there is no gurantee we like all the guys in bold either. Anyhow, there is a chance, albeit a somewhat small chance, that all of our targets at #13 could be taken. Remember also drafts are not made in round 1.

my questions for y'all are:
1) under what conditions would you trade down?
a) what would you want in return
b) what players would have to be taken / who would be the only players left

2) who would you be targeting (similar to 1b)?

3) is there a scenario you would trade up?

4) what players would you be looking at in the following rounds? What prospects do you see as sleepers for later in the draft, or that are just under the radar?

5) how much are you influenced by best player available, and how much by positional need in you preferences?

i'd have to say i would only trade down if reggie williams, roy williams, and kellen winslow are all gone. then i'd drop down to #19 and take philip rivers right ahead of miami to make sure they wouldn't pick him ahead of us. i'd be looking for a 3rd rounder in return.

i wouldn't trade up, don't think we have any real desparate needs that can't be taken care of in FA.

I'd most like to see a WR/TE in round 1, a OL in round 2, a future QB in round 3, and a pass rushing specialist DE in round 4. then maybe look KR and DT in later rounds.

i don't want best player available, i want to see needs filled first and foremost

my dream draft:
Kellen Winslow
J.P. Losman
Nick Leckey
Bernard Berrian
DE?
DT?

moving from 13 to 18 or 19 will ensure a 2nd round pick if we package our 3rd......

i.e.

trade 13 and 77 (3rd round)

for

18 and 50 (2nd round)..

and we still have out 45th (2nd)....

Imagine move down 5 spots in the first for 2 PICKS in the 2nd....(losing the 3rd of course)....Certainly a consideration..

I think that CB has to be a consideration also. The Bills will likely not feel that paying Winfield huge money is justified, so he probably will leave in FA. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Winfield on this team again, but not at $5M a year.

I wouldn't reach for a receiver in round 1 if one of the top 3 isn't available. It appears to be a very deep draft at wideout, so we might see a very good WR there in round 2.

I think a trade down is a distinct possibility, depending on what goes on in FA.

Beyond Manning, Roethlisberger, Rivers (I am a convert) and possibly Losman, I don't see a QB worth taking before say round 4 or later. If they don't take one of these guys by round 2, don't waste the #3 on a turd who will never pan out anyway. Use it on a better player at another position.

would target a player and move up this year because he could land a perennial Pro Bowler for years to come and might be willing to forgo the 2005 first round pick to do it! Think about it, if Buffalo rebounds nicely and makes a run at the playoffs next year, trading a 1st rounder next offseason doesn't hurt as bad! It's all about impact, and someone could make them willing to jump depending on the breakout of picks (the annual falling pick No ONE ever envisions!) I think the Bills brass probably thinks that this will be the last "high pick" they make for the forseeable future..... Strike while the iron is HOT would be my slogan!!!!!

I like the post from "orthy". Trade down our 1st and 3rd for a lower 1st and a 2nd. Pick 3 players in the 25->50 zone. Get the best center and guard and a speed TE. Then go after QB and DE.
