Since Bledsoe will be our QB for quite a while, I expect us to take someone who can be developed over a period of several years.
The most likely picks are Josh Harris and Ron Rutherford in round #4 or later. If Cody Pickett is still around in round #3 however, he will be considered.
We have many more pressing needs than 3rd string QB, so I don't see us taking a QB early in the draft.

We need a #2 QB. When you play Bledsoe because you have no confidence in his backup than it is time to get a #2 that can step in.

i think we can take Rivers in the 2nd round. but Rivers is a risk since his techniques are weak

Rivers won't fall to the 2nd round, fellas.
He's going to have an excellent combine.

We do have pressing QB needs, unless we sign a 2nd stringer out of FA. Bledsoe will NOT be our QB for all that long, maybe this season and next IF he performs this season. We need a backup that we can have confidence to bring in the game. So wither we sign a draft pick and a cheap veteran, or we sign a more pricey FA and get a later round pick. We probably need both. Van Pelt and Brown aren't the answer.

I think Luke McCown could be a possible project.

who's rankings are these? not complaining, just wondering.
for the record:
Harris
Rivers
Clauson
Pickett
are the guys I like after Eli and Ben.
I'm not sure what type of QB Mularkey prefers. If it's versitility, he probably likes Harris and Rutherford. If it's accuracy he probably likes Rivers, Clauson, Symmons. If it's a gunslinger, he probably likes Rivers, Pickett, Losman. McCown or Harris, if he likes talented projects.

Rivers is a 3rd or 4th rounder, at best. He is not a fit in Buffalo's bad weather, IMHO.

I'd love to get Eli Manning, but we most likely won't trade up. The guy I think that will emerge from this class besides Eli or Ben, however, is J.P. Losman from Tulane. This guy has the arm of Favre and scrambles like Elway did early in his career. He also brings that cocky, yet confident presence to the huddle, like Jim Kelly did. He has all the tools and intangibles to be successful in the NFL. This guy would look great donning the red, white, and blue of the Buffalo Bills.

I can see JP Losman moving up on that chart after the combine.

Harris round 3.
I was a fan of his before...but now that Mularkey and Clements are in the fold...I'd love to see what Harris could develop into under them.

Most rankings have it this way:
Manning top 3 over all
Roethlisberger top 3 over all
J.P Lossman late first - early second round
Philip Rivers late first - mid second
Matt Schaub mid second to 3rd
Cody Pickett - 2nd - 4th
Josh Harris 3rd -5th

These are just a few, some vary, but the consensus top 4 seem to be Manning, Roethlisberger, Lossman, Rivers. After that I have seen varying opinions with Schaub seeming to be the most likely ranked 5 along with Pickett, than Harris and Navarre. BTW, Rivers, Lossman, Schaub, Pickett, Harris and Navarre will all be under the microscope this week at the Senior Bowl. The rankings should start to solidify after this week.

Admarc's is more accurate.
Losman, while he is a jerk sometimes, is far better than Pickett.
Who knows? Is he another Leaf? Maybe.
Rivers is a 2nd rounder but may go earlier due to hype.

I think Jared Lorenzen can be a very good NFL QB. I've seen him play a few times, and he's definitely got the arm and accuracy for pro ball. The only thing is he's fat as hell. They list him in the program "officially" at 275, but that's probably conservative by about 25 pounds. His head alone probably weighs about 150. But he can move for a big guy, probably better than Bledsoe actually, and he can't be tackled by any less than three guys. He'd be a project, but that's what we should be looking for, a guy who will sit on the bench for the next two years or so.
By the way, you don't draft for a backup QB. Ever. If you draft a QB he should either be ready to play right now (like Peyton Manning was) or he should sit every game in the third spot on the depth chart. You NEVER rely on a rookie who's not ready to take over if the starter goes down. That's suicide for not only the team but for the kid as well. Travis Brown might make a good backup, but I'd like to see them get someone with experience.

Good points. Lorenzen cold have good value on the second day. He actually lost a lot of weight over last offseason, and I'm sure he is committed to losing more. The amazing thing, like you said, is he not only has a sound arm, but is mobile at 275 and falling.
He's a gun slinger.
He throws with his south paw.
He is very raw.

Rivers throws like a girl. Losman will go no earlier than 13 and no later than 19. He's my pick.

Rivers will be going to Green Bay to learn from one of the best.
If TD & Co. are high on him they will have to trade down and grab him before they do. IMO

I'd be happy to go with Losman. but not with the 13th pick.

There are three franchise QB's in this draft, the Bills need to get one of them. I am not impressed with Lossman and am worried about the persistant buzz about his lack of leadership qualities. Is it just me or does he remind anyone else of Rob Johnson. Rivers is the real deal, 13 may be a little high to take him, but he will be gone in the second. I am hoping TD figures out a way to make it work and get Rivers in a Bills uni next season.
