Bandits radio deal and radio show

Well, it's not WGR 55 which I expected, but I just ran to the radio to check to if I could get the station in, and I could. Plus the show about the Bandits is cool too. I wonder who will be the play by play and color guy for the games.

Im 10 mins away from their home location. Its a start first time in 13 years we had a radio contract so hopefully they will get some decent people to do it and not butcher it too bad.

I dropped WJJL an e-mail earlier today. Told 'em if they needed any help Bandit and I would gladly pitch in. Who knows, maybe they'll put me on the air on Wednesdays!:loony: Just remember, we have to crawl before we walk, walk before we run. The Bandits will settle for just KICKIN' A$$ !!!!!

We had a radio deal back in the early 90's, I believe it was with WGR-55, and they did a few whole seasons. And 2001, 2002 we had a deal for select home games only with WNSA. I know Jeff Dowling and I think it was Mike Hancock called those games. Wonder who it will be this year!

and the color guy is none other than former Bandit Randy Mearns.

Fortunately i'll be at most of the games this season and I won't have to endure Gurgler too much. Hopefully his style has changed since doing the Sabres games. That statement should effectively kill any chances of me being on the Wednesday show.:flush:

Gurtler??? Gurtler?!?!? Why?!?!?!?! He has at least three mistakes per Bills home game (where he's the PA announcer)

On another note, I glad that insane PA guy is back for the Bandits. Well, I assume he is, he's still the "other guy" at Sabres games.

He loses his voice every Bandits game. That just goes to show you...

SabreJeff, the PA guy is Chris Swanson, and he is the Sabres PA guy too. He also was the Destroyers, Gamblers, Stampede, and Wings PA guy when they were in town. No doubt he does his best work for the Bandits (and when the Gamblers were in town) because he can lead the crowd in cheers during play, where in hockey and football there is no music or PA announcer during play.

As for Gurtler, I think he will do okay. He was not the worst announcer when he was the Sabres guy, and at least we have heard of him and he has done play by play. I figured the Bandits would get somebody that just got out of Buff State to do the job that no one has ever heard of. Now lets hope John don't start calling John Tavares "J" Tavares like he was calling Eric Moulds "E" Moulds two years ago.

Well folks I caught a little of the game on JJL on Saturday after I left the PGP and it didn't sound bad at all. Gurtler did fine on the play by play and Mearnsie did great on the color. It is a great option if you can't make it to the game.

On another note I see on www.bandits.com they have webcasts of all the games too.
