Center Chris Taylor returned to his Rochester-area home to be with his 7-year-old son, Nick, who was hospitalized. Nick Taylor was born with a large cyst where much of his brain should be and has been hospitalized in the past because of an inability for fluid to properly drain. There is no timetable for Chris Taylor's return.

I got the idea that he is in unexplored territory and nobody really knows.

More on Chris...
Everything was going so well for Chris Taylor.
The night after he celebrated Christmas with his wife and two small children he scored an empty-net goal to cap the Buffalo Sabres' first victory in more than three weeks. The next night the Sabres won again.
Immediately following Saturday night's 3-1 triumph over the Washington Capitals, however, Taylor scurried home to suburban Rochester. He had received a call that his 7-year-old son, Nick, had been hospitalized.
Nick was born with a cyst that prevented nearly three-quarters of his brain from fully developing. The shunt implanted to drain fluid had faltered.
Similar problems had led to nearly 20 surgeries for Nick in the past, but none in the last four years.
"It was scary, and he's at that age right now where he realizes what's happening," Chris Taylor said.
Nick is resting at his family's home in Churchville. He spent Saturday and Sunday night at Golisano Children's Hospital. That's the same Golisano who owns the Sabres: Rochester billionaire B. Thomas Golisano.
"He's recovering well," Chris Taylor said. "He's at home and he's doing the best he can right now. He just has to take it a little easy for a while.
"All I can say is that being with the Buffalo organization - they've been unbelievable to me. They got me home right away and let me have a couple days off. They've bent over backwards for me. It's been good for my wife and me to be home, so I can't thank the Sabres enough."
Taylor practiced with the Sabres on Tuesday, and is available to play tonight against the Capitals in HSBC Arena.
