I'm thinking I'll take a beating over this but....

J.P. Dumont......We've seen the boost the A on his sweater gave to his game. Im sitting watching the Senators game and watching how his inspired effort is sparking the team. If making him an Alternate brought his game to another level, i'm drooling thinking what wearing the C might do to him.

Yea i would give it to Dumont, he is the only one playing decent. Or Curtis Brown...maybe, he skates hard and is actually starting to hit people. i think either one would be alright.

Dumont had a good game but he always has spurts like this. I think this is by far his best season (and its not even over) but he should not be captain.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brown.

I'm guessing Dumont, After a couple of months with an 'A', I think it is his turn.

And 'A's for Brown and Briere. Or maybe Adam Mair.

Adam Mair? Yeah, right. Anyway, Dumont may get the "C", but I don't think it'll be in January. According to the talk I've heard (granted, it's not as much as those of you in the Bflo. area, but I get a different perspective as well) he's still developing as a leader. However, I can't see many candidates for captaincy right now. Brownie might get it.

P.S.- playing well does not necessarily earn you the captaincy. You have to be a leader in the locker room as well.

I just have to say that I feel bad for Patrick.

JP if his "stomach ache" is feeling better.

JP's been leading on the ice.....who knows what goes on behind closed doors in the locker room.

or Mckee!!

I like McKee, with Brown and Dumont the A's. Although IMO Brown is more A double "s"

Mckee hasnt done a single thing to deserve the C. His leadership qualities really shined through earlier in the year when he was benched. He broke his sticks and left practice early once he was informed of the benching. Not the guy I want leading me on the ice.

Dumont should get the C for sure.

A's go to Briere and I guess Brown...Nobody else really comes to mind.

I agree he shouldn't get the C just yet....But his presence was seriously felt in that last game against the Sens. I thought he played very well, and had a few nice hits and blocked shots. He played very solid and with an edge.

If he plays like that every night, he could be up for a letter on his jersey very soon. This team desperately needs him to step up and be the gritty crease clearing defenseman we've all been begging for.

No, but you'd take Satan, a guy who slumped for 2 months after the C was taken? McKee at least backs his players, and shows fire. If I were benched, I'd slam sticks too. When the coach will bench a hard-working player for a couple bad games, but won't bench a sluggo sleeping through 2 months, who cares who's captain? Obviously if they're willing to keep switching every month, they don't care. Pick a guy and stick to it. The team's a joke now, I wouldn't want the Captaincy.

No C for McKee yet, though I am glad his's back in the fold. He was missed.

Ya, sorry. I hit quote instead of reply, I didn't mean you personally. Just the people who thought he should've kept the "C"

Dumont C
As for the A's I can only think of Roy as playing anything close to decent lately but after what 3 NHL games I doubt it.

I think JP will be, after seeing Lindy's press conference, where he singled him out for his assumed leadership role. I'd be okay with that, but it'd be nice to see someone keep it longer than a month.

December 26th, 2003, 10:08:26 AM
I agree with the longer than a month idea, but with the sorry state the team is in, nobody has deserved it for that long. If they name the next captain and the team flourishes...thats where I have the problem with changing again in February.

Give Dumont the C
Drury and Zhitnik the A's

Dumont deserves this, I just hope it doesn't turn out like this month with Patrick.
We need Drury to lead our offense, he needs a hand with the leadership role.
December was easily Zhitnik's (and the whole team's) worst month. If we are going to come close to the playoffs, he needs to lead our defense. He had A's the first two months and played well.

Dumont deserves the C.

LSU rotated their captains on a game by game basis this year. It worked for them.

What has Mair done this year?

My thoughts exactly. He's a perennial fourth liner. Mair does have heart, but I want Rasmussen back. He's flat out a better player. Not great, but better than Mair.

When Rasmussen played like he is capable of, he certainly was. In fact, I thought he won the series against the Flyers with his physical play in 2001. I thought Ruff screwed up getting Rasmussen back too early against Philly, and he got reinjured.

Forget rotation, J.P. is the clear cut leader of this team.

LALAFONTAINE
January 15th, 2004, 9:52:32 AM
Yes. After the Flyers kept cheapshotting the Sabres, he showed a lot of testicular fortitude not leaving the bench for the locker room. Ruff's goal worked. Rotating captains was designed to find out who the leaders were, and we found ours.

Yea, lets get Rasmussen and Juri Dudichek back on the Sabres! WOW! While we're at it let's see what Ric Seiling is doing. Mair's dog is a better hockey player than Rasmussen ever dreamed he could be. WOW, i need more beer.

He did on occasion. Don't get me wrong, it was time for him to go, because he is the type of player who only battles hard part of the time. Amazing how no coach could get that out of him - not Ruff, not Murray, not Burns.
