Why do you hate the guy ? I don't think he's gonna win the title, he's just not good enough, but I pull for him. He will have to keep fighting better fighters here on out and I think he's gonna be in over his head. But I will be rooting for him.

Im not a big Mesi supporter either, but Barrett wasnt a pushover like the rest and it showed. Its what Mesi needed, to go the distance, get hurt. This way at least he can drop the "Babied Joe" moniker.

Mesi might have one the fight but thats not in the case as many guys who write boxing columns say that Barrett had won the fight over Mesi in points. I believe one of them had Barret 97-94 point win over Mesi.

Mesi got abused in the later rounds. He won enough of the early rounds to hang on. This has happened to all good fighters at some point in their careers. I don't understand why any Buffalonian would Hate Mesi? He represents our city with class and hopefully he will continue to get better. I do think he would get his a$$ kicked by that big Ukrainian dude though. He may want to stay away from that fight as long as possible.

It's not that I hate mesi, and ill agree he is an ambassador to our city, I just think hes overhyped. And youre exactly right, Klitchko would kill him.

I watched the fight on HBO replay the other day and He wasn't destroyed or anything in the later rounds like some of the reviews have said.
He won the first six rounds pretty cleanly, knocking Barrett down.
Rounds 7-10 were Barrets, but not really any sounder than Mesi won the first 6. Mesi got some good shots in the later rounds as well.
Mesi clearly won the fight. He didn't dominate, but he won. It was a step up, and he really only made one mistake.

Mesi had to go longer than he is used to.
I didn't like the excuse about hittiing his head on the door of his SUV after Sparring.... Anyone read that?
I have rooted for Joe Mesi, but his face looked worse. Endurance is the key. Maybe now he won't be fighting Joe Schmoe from Alaska, but He won't be fighting any contenders soon.

If he's the real deal as people make him out to be, let him fight some people in the top 10
