"Teams will play divisional opponents twice at home and twice on the road. They will play conference opponents outside their division three or four times, and teams from the other conference twice -- at home and away.

Divisional winners each earn a playoff berth. The remaining five playoff berths for each conference will be based on regular-season records with no regard to divisional alignment.

Home-court advantage throughout the playoffs will be based solely on regular-season records. That means a divisional winner will not necessarily have home court advantage in the playoff series."

It's been a long time coming. Nice to see.

That southeast division is a real strong one. 20 wins should be enough to win that division unless someone does some major shopping in the offseason. If the NBA had those divisions now, Washington would be the leader with a 4-6 record.

It's amazing how much better the western conference is

And on top of that, New Orleans switches and they are a pretty good Eastern team this year

Those divisions are perfect geographically. All looks pretty good except for the southeast, which will be much like the southeast in the NHL, a joke were the divisional leader will always have the 3rd seed in the conferance when the 4th 5th and sometimes 6th seeds have more points. Oh well it'll be fun to watch.

Yeah, but New Jersey and Philadelphia are good teams that will get things going and have good seasons. Toronto could have a good season if they quit playing like the Buffalo Bills and figure out how to score on the road. Nobody in the southeast division I have much hope for.
