The 1 - 7 Chargers vs the 6 - 2 Vikings
Half of the men in North America have a hard time touching their toes by the time they reach the age of 41. If Flutie (41 yrs old)and the 1 - 7 Chargers beat the Vikings this week, then I think the Chargers should hire Flutie as Drew Brees personal qb coach. By the time the Chargers are ready to make a run for the Superbowl - Flutie will be too old to make an on field contribution, so they may as well use his experience to help Brees become a better qb.
I don't think Doug Flutie is going to replace Drew Brees as the number 1 qb for the Chargers. If Flutie is going to be the starter for the rest of the season, then it is time for the Chargers to start looking for a new qb.

i think flutie is awesome but obviously he is not the future of the chargers, i really believe they will go after a free-agent QB next year.

What happened to Brees? I thought he was going to be good?

Brees never was any good, but now he's the worst in the league. NEVER even looks downfield a single time in entire games.
Flutie, at 41, is just not any good. He's very slow (still quick, but slow trying to outrun LDs). However, the chargers have some GREAT skill players that brees was just wasting. Maybe flutie can just heave it up for boston and win a few.
The important thing is, of course, that he win more than rob.

It could be a good race. Rob may play this week or next for an awful team and we know Doug plays this week for an awful team.
Someone has to win one of these weeks.

So do the Chargers play the Raiders again this year? We could have another Flutie/Johnson Bowl.....Showcasing two of the worst QB's in the league.

I don't watch much football?? Do you?? Let's see, it took Flutie over a decade to even get back into the NFL, only to not make in Buffalo, then lose his starting job to a inexperienced QB in SD. How can you say I don't watch football? When has Flutie done anything good in the NFL? He just runs around in circles and gets the ball batted down by opposing linemen. Why don't you turn off the computer and turn on the tv sometime.

how did we go farther with rob johnson. that guy never did anything for us. he didn't win in the reg. season and he didn't win in his only playoff try. plus that charger team that flutie was on sucked. it was a miracle that they won their first 4 or 5.

Whether you like him or not, don't blame him for his only playoff loss. If watched the game you'd know that RJ led us down the field under 2 mins, at one point, running down the field calling plays with 1 shoe on, to lead us to the field goal that should've won the game, it wasn't his fault that special teams blew it. Give him credit where credit is due.

i will, and that is my only rob johnson moment where he looked like he had a purpose. i saw the game, believe me and rob looked like a man possessed for a moment. who's to say we would have even been in that position if doug played the game like he should of...10 - 5 reg season, what?! i can't figure out why everyone hates him. i understand that he may have helped in tearing the lockerroom apart, but wouldn't you if you had been winning the games and the next guy wasn't.

From some of the discussion on this thread, it is obvious that many watch football, but have no understanding of what they are watching. Open your eyes and open your mind.

I don't like him because he's selfish and an arrogant little jerk. He should have gone to management at least instead of badmouthing rob behind his back. That's cowardly. Nobody has really liked him since he started playing in the nfl. If it's anybody's fault it's ralph wilson and wade wilson who made the call for the change. Rob didn't order it, rob didn't demand it. He was only doing his job. Some people seem to forget that rob was not the qb politician in the lockeroom. However, we don't know how the game would have turned out with flutie starting. I won't buy that it was absolutely a gimme game for us if flutie had started. I do know that rob put us in posistion to win and we "should" have won that tennessee playoff game and our special teams did a bill buckner.

If only a team would give him the right opportunity, without having to look over his shoulder, or listen to fans scream for his replacement.
How could the NFL let so much talent go to waste?

How do I have no understanding of the game? Because I said Flutie sucks? Well that's my opinion, if you don't like, then LEAVE. Many many many people agree with me, he isn't great, we're talking NFL, not CFL.

Not for nuthin', SanDiego is winning 21-14, and Flutie has thrown for 1 TD and has a rushing TD. Scoring in the Red Zone; is that allowed? Watching Drew & the Bills "O", I wasn't sure anymore.

Please... any QB can have a decent game here and there, but RJ has proven over his career that he just doesn't have it. While I'm not saying Doug is the best, he's still performing decent considering his age. It's too bad he was blackballed for his height in the prime years of his career.
