Check yourself, Eric.
Peters is bigger and better than you enforcer wise right now.
You'll be lucky to be in the NHL in a few weeks when Hecht is back.

I really don't see a problem with what Eric said. Everyone wants to play, not sit in the press box after doing that behind Ray for the past three years. As for a better fighter, at the moment neither Peters or Boulton are feared by anyone.

The problem I have with it is the way Boulton came off like he somehow deserved to be in the line up every night simply because he's been in the league for 4 years.
Sorry, but nobody is guaranteed anything. If he wants to play every night, then he needs to beat out the guys in front of him for playing time.
So far this year Peters has earned more playing time than Boulton has.

if he really wants to compete with the hulking giant that peters is, he's going to have to improve his game, not his fighting. both of them are fearless, if both of them are useless on the skates then the advantage goes to the huge guy. if boulton wants in, he's gonna have to prove that he brings something that peters doesn't.

I really don't understand the infatuation with Andrew Peters, quite honestly.
Sure, he's fought everybody he's wanted to fight, but he's lost about 95% of those battles at the same time. His hockey skills are kind of a joke, and he's not as good of a skater that Boulton is. Peters might have an edge in the corners.....But I haven't seen him do enough of that to even give him a plus in that catergory.
I don't mind Boulton saying that he's pissed he's not playing. That's a natural reaction to what has happend. But I understand Jim Bob's point of view. He's got to earn his ice time like everyone else does, regardless of time spent in the league.
He should be extra fiesty and playing smarter hockey when he's back in the lineup. Maybe he can convince Ruff that's he's a better player than Peters.

Bigger? Yes.
Better? He hasn't shown me anything to merit that.

Boulton is quite possibly the worst hockey player in the NHL

You're kidding right? We must be watching different games. I'd say he's won around 25% lost about 25% and drawn on 50%. That's a good deal better than Boulton who loses all of them, and he wont stand up to about half of the goons in the NHL.
Enforcers are getting bigger and stronger, just like everyone else. This is Peter's first tussle around the NHL, so he's got to learn everyone's style, when to fight, etc. Yeah he took his fair share of licks, but he adds a whole dimension to a team that Boulton can't.
Boulton's nothing but an AHLer. Let him cry.

Peters may have some balance issues, but at least he's not completely overpowered like Boulton usually is.

I think I've seen Peters win 1 fight, maybe two. Not including preseason. Think of what Brad May used to do when he won a fight. Remember what the other guy looked like after May was done with him? That's winning a fight. Not falling on top of the guy, or getting a few lucky licks in at the end that glance of the other guys helmet. Peters has lost fights to guys I haven't even heard of. He's a gamer, I'll give him that. But so is Boulton! I've never seen Boulton back down from anybody, and Boutlon is usually David fighting Goliath and he still has similar results to Peters' fights. I don't know how you can say Boulton won't fight half of the goons in the NHL...In his short NHL career, he's stood up to everyone that's challenged him.
Good point on Peters first trip around the NHL...Getting to know fighters styles and what not. He should improve, but at the same time, a fight is a fight. Balance is something he definitely needs to work on, as James from Chili pointed out :D
What's this whole dimension that Peters adds to this team?!?!?
He's a goon, jj.

He must be adding something since he's been dressed way more than we say Boulton or Ray at this point last season. Last year, teams could take shots at your top line players with little consiquence. This year, they know that Peter's is there if they decide to play that type of game. Furthermore, guys like Dumont and Mair can go out there and bang without worrying about getting crushed.
I'm not denying he's a goon, but you can't even give Boulton that. Sure Boulton doesn't back down, but the fight has to come to him.

As far as I'm concerned, both of them can go play in Moose Factory. Most team's tough guys can at least make a few passes. I cringe every time the puck goes near either of these guys because 9 out of 10 it's going to go to the other team. But if I was going to choose, I'd pick Peters. He's a better fighter and since neither of them have skill, Peters is my choice.

The team last season was very different from the team this season. You had 4 lines of NHL'ers. This season we have 3 lines of NHL'ers and 1 line of AHL'ers because of the injury bug. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise to see what guys like Taylor and Botterill can bring over a guys like Connolly and Afinogenov. Peters is in there for his fistacuffs, true. But Hecht is hurt, Connolly is hurt, and Afinogenov hasn't been bringing enough to the table. That's an entire line that's not there anymore, that was there last season. That's why Peters has been in there so frequently this season. Not because of some "dimension" he adds to the team. Drury adds a dimension. Not Peters.
Furthermore, guys like Dumont and Mair can go out there and bang without worrying about getting crushed.
When has Adam Mair ever had to worry about being crushed? Or Dumont for that matter? You didn't pick the two softest players on this team. You picked the grittiest in Mair, who will drop the gloves, and you picked one of the suprise players of the season for the Sabres in Dumont, who's playing grittier than ever.
Sure Boulton doesn't back down, but the fight has to come to him.
That's not true.

Peters is better than Boulton. We need Peters to start winning more fights though. He is definitely more willing than Boulton.

Didn't the Sabres tie the Thrashers at one within minutes of the Peters fight the other night? I think there was also a game on the road trip where the Sabres went on a tear after a Peters fight. They picked it up vs. Toronto right after the Peters fight (which he lost big). Lindy is keeping him because he's been effective in pumping up the bench with timely scraps.

Good point, buffjoe.
I'd say that was as spirited a fight from Boults tonight as any recent Peters fight.
Ruff pushed the right button. He's got competitions all over this roster, even with the enforcers.
I just wish he'd pick a goaltender........*cough*MIKA*cough
Biron's had his shot after shot after shot.

No doubt Mika's played well when called upon. Question is can he do full time duty?

jj, we'll never know unless he gets a true shot.
He deserves to get more starts, and he better get the start tonight after "stealing a game" to quote Lindy himself. If Lindy starts Biron tonight, I'll lose all hope in Noronen's chances on this team.

Yes.
The game they went on a tear after a Peters fight was LA. Peters has been effective in his role.

Mika might play tonight while Gerber is taking a flight in if all goes as rumored.
