Definetely Hasek. Probably LaFontaine too.

Gare - yes
Lafontaine - yes, but condsidering the way he was treated {wanted to come back after his head injury, but got traded away}
he might not show for the ceremony - and who'd blame him?
Hasek - screw him
What I'd like to know is, how come Dodger's number isn't retired?

Gare I agree with.
Lafontaine would lose much of my respect if he did not show up. First off, the Sabres could not afford him at the time and considering he had to retire in the season after he was traded maybe the Sabres were not off-base. Most of all for him not to show-up would be a slap in the face of the fans.
If so honored, I don't see Pat not showing. He has way too much class not to.
As for Hasek he is either the greatest or second greatest player ever to wear a Sabres uniform. If Robert and Martin have their numbres retired, Dom is a no-brainer.

Yes he should!! Ever since he stopped wearing 18 it has been cursed. Might as well make him wear it forever.

Why wouldn't he?? He came back for his book 2 and a half years ago.
Besides, the Sabres have plans in the works to honor Pat and Grant before a game for their recent Hall of Fame inductions.

Nobody's jersey should be retired.
Given the people who have their jerseys retired already, then Gare, Hasek, Fuhr, Lafontaine, Andreychuk and Ramsey deserve their numbers retired. Let's be like Colorado and retire Fuhr's number before the Oilers do!

You're a little late with that one. The Oilers retired Grant's number a few weeks ago.

Taylor already wears 16.
I don't think Patty La should get retired. He had some great seasons but he also had seasons that he missed because of injury. The Sabres should bring him back and put him on the Sabres Hall of Fame and give him so new toys to play with. Also Ray should go in the Sabres Hall of Fame.
As for Hasek, yeah a lot of people don't like him because of his demand to be traded and his "I will always be a Red Wing" statement, but he was the greatest Sabre ever to play the game. His number will be retired for his play, not what he did off the ice.

Lets see...
Dominik Hasek is the best goalie to EVER play, had all of his dominate seasons in Buffalo, largely was responsible for our very successfull seasons in 1996-97, when we won the Northeast Division, then the next year when we went to the East Finals, the next year when we were Eastern Conference Champs, and the 2000-2001 season when we had almost 100 points. Without him, none of those teams would have saw more than the first round of the playoffs, if that.
I'd say he was marginally important to the success of this franchise over the past 10 years, with 6 Vezinas and 2 Harts to go with all of ^ that.
Retire #39 now.

Alot of people dont like Hasek, because of the way he left. He has some fans, though. Love him or hate him,he was a great goaltender and a rock for us. Retire #39.

Aw, come on!! I'd give Patty a LOT more credit than that!! He went on and on in an interview when he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame about how much Buffalo means to him. I really don't think Pat would screw over the people of Buffalo. If we wanted to honor him, he would be here. He is a much better person than that!!

Just some local precedence...
The Bills have one, ONE number retired and that's #12.
They refuse to retire #32, #34, #78 and yet they "will never issue those numbers" again. And te NFL has 53 man rosters while the NHL has 30 fewer men per roster.

If you don't retire numbers, you also provide an incentive for a player not to disrespect a number.
