View Full Version : Rob's QB rating is higher than Drew's! (this isnt a joke)

***Yes folks, you read it correctly, our beloved QB is rated lower than the hated Rob Johnson!(mods, my intent is to mention an ex Bill and a current Bill, not to critique the whole NFL, so please dont move it unless it gets too dumb). Yes, I hear you when you exclaim that he has had much less opportunities than Drew. But who can honestly know that he wouldn't maintain his average or do even better? Don't feel bad, Rob's also a higher rated QB than Quincy Carter, Trent Green, Tom Brady, Tim Couch, Rich Gannon, Jay Fiedler, and Jeff Garcia! Again, I am no RJ fan, although I admit to enjoying poking fun at the hate-filled people who overreacted to his out of context and misquoted comments lately. Here's the rating list, not in it's entirety. Alex Van Pelt is in dead last, if you were curious.

One of the most pointless threads I've seen here. What's Rob's career Win/Loss record??

Many of us have been unemployed, but it doesnt mean we weren't good workers or people.

BV, you call the thread lame but you didnt mind the threads that said purely negative things about Rob. Isnt that a bit 2 faced? Come on, this was a joke guys.

Another reason to discount the value of QB rating. By the way, based on QB rating Koy Detmer's 2 for 3 for 25 yards trumps Rob's 5 for 7 for 39 yards. No wonder the Eagles fans are clamoring to see Detmer on the field! If you just project his 2/3 out over a whole season...

StraightJ
October 24th, 2003, 9:22:07 PM
And who's to say Detmer wouldnt do better than McNabb currently is? ....come on, I wasn't being serious with this. I think a running back(Tomlinson?) actually leads the league. I dont know if there there is a minimum number of attempts like the minimum number of at bats in baseball, but there should be. I thought I made it specific that I didnt think Rob was even near the QB Drew is. FPF, this isnt an attack on Drew lovers, just some good-natured humor to quiet down the Rob haters. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought I was taking this board too seriously.... lol

Let it go dude.. Rob Johnson is out of Buffalo... He is now out of the NFL. Again, I enjoyed seeing Rob sacked 3 times in Buffalo, but I don't hate him as a person. I don't even know him. I'll say something nice about him though, not many Qb's took a beating like he did. Though he could have avoided alot of the shots he took by throwing the ball away, he sure took some huge hits. Just like one of the toughest players Buffalo ever had, Jim Kelly.

A good QB rating doesnt mean youre a good Qb. Qb rating are deceptive jut like other stats in football. For example, taking a sack doesn't harm your QB rating, but throwing an interception does. Then you have to consider other factors like the amount of games played, or how many career TD passes the QB had. Look at the ratings for some of the great QB's, like Kelly, Elway, and Marino. The important stats is Wins and Losses.

Next week Rob will have a better average at bagging groceries without breaking any eggs.

Or should I say SACKing groceries?

Don't leave out the Rob did a lot of charity work. From all accounts I've heard, he was a lot more decent than a lot of NFL players are today. I can understand if you want to hate the player, but like on here sometimes, it seems to be getting too personal. I like AVP, but I wouldn't mind an upgrade for our backup spot. :)

Am I reading that correctly? Rob has been sacked 3 times and only has 7 pass attempts? Way to go Rob. Man, I was a huge RJ supporter too. Thank god for Drew.

ANG
October 25th, 2003, 12:00:48 PM
If I'm reading this correct, Drew's thrown for 1595 yards compared to 39 yards, which obviously means Rob's played like maybe one quarter of a game, how anyone can even compare QB ratings based on the difference in time played is beyond me. This has got to be one of the worst stat comparisons I've ever seen.

Big deal . . . Doug Flutie did a lot of charity work, too - I don't hear much of a clamor for him . . . RJ's gone, let's leave him on the same scrap heap as Ferragamo, Collins, etc. . . BTW, how's Flutie's career QB rating? I believe its higher than Rob's . . .

It might die a nice, quick death if you quit starting RJ-worship threads.

I just read that RJ's lifetime rating was also higher than Kelly's, Rich Gannon's and a few others, and that is considering all the sacks he took. I'm not a huge RJ fan, but I do find it amazing.

I can't believe Denver is looking to pick up this guy. What really irks me is that he played in ZERO superbowls and has a superbowl ring. Kelly played in 4 and has none.

I'd be shocked if Denver signed Rob Johnson.

I think its painfully clear that "the dude" can't handle the west coast offense. Quick decisions ain't his forte'.

Still, he's a good guy and I hope he succeeds at some point.

Guys, when I started this thread(and the other one, which disappeared without a ridirect, so I thought it was erased, and started another), it was just as a novelty. I believe I even said so at least once, probably more. I just figured stating the simple fact would rile a lot of Rob haters up, and it did. Heck it got moved here, and without a redirect, so apparently it riled up a moderator as well. For whoever told me to stop posting RJ threads, I cant remember when I did it, but it wasnt extremely recently. Furthermore, if people can post numerous threads and a mountain of posts bashing the guy, I figure I can post a neutral or postive thread about him. If anything can be learned by this(besides the hatred some people harbor), it's that the QB rating system needs work.

For the record he was wanted back by tampa bay after last season. He chose to leave on his own accord. Gruden was quoted as saying he was mad rob left them for washington. This is just to erase the false assumptions that tampa did not want him back.

Rob has the same QB rating as you and I. You have to be an NFL QB to have a passer rating.

Maybe for the last couple of weeks, but his lifetime rating is higher than yours. :) The announcers in the boys-skins game yesterday said the skins were stupid to get rid of him. It's funny how you guys complain about this RJ thread, but didnt complain to the people who started the countless negative threads about him. I hate the double standard with you guys.

Very good point. Notice that one of them started his own RJ thread this week. This board is nuts sometimes. Another thing NOBODY on here mentioned, is that RJ isnt starting this week or anytime in the foreseable future. He is not even the #2, but listed as the #3 QB for this week's showdown with the j e t s. Maybe he will move up with the amazing lack of talent above him, and after watching mirer ruin one of my picks for last week(by throwing his own), I dont see why he shouldn't.
