View Full Version : Who deserves a ring?

A number of posters made comments in previous mega threads about an ex Bucs QB that did not deserve his Super Bowl ring.
This got me thinking, who actually deserves to get a ring then? Only the starters and head coach? or the backups if the make a certain amount of tackles or catch a certain # of passes? Maybe they could get an arbitrator to decide.
I think it is a dumb argument that any player on a SB team does not deserve a ring be it Rob Johnson or Mike Benjamin (Bucs LS).
Shawn King did less to help the Bucs than RJ did last year and I do not read comments that he does not deserve a ring.
People seem to let their dislike of players cloud their thinking.

Anyone on the winning team deserves a ring, the question comes up as to who earns one and who is along for the ride.

Everyone on the Superbowl team deserves a RIng. I mean even the laundry guy gets a ring, and thats fine. But your not gonna see the laundry guy bragging that he has a ring and Jim Kelly doesnt.

All players do contribute, even if it is only during practice and game preparation. Since RJ, did start two games for the Bucs and did provide assiatance duringthe regular season. To argue that RJ does not deserve a ring is pretty silly.

What do you mean provided assistance (except playing waterboy)to the Bucs, when he did play for them he was awful and only helped out the opponent. RJ IMO doesn't deserve a ring because he has been hopping from team to team and has really never helped out a team that he played for. He has ring and noone can do anything about it but just as long as he knows he did nothing to earn it.

Geez dude, you just can't let Rob go. The next time I come up to visit I'm gonna check your closet for some silk bandanna head bands. BogusTrumper had a ponit, how come you don't comment on any other threads?

Don't worry, he'll more than likely sell his SB ring to pay for food or wax for his surfboard.

No one in the NFL will be picking up his sorry a$$

BV- I hesitate to respond to this because I will be accused of loving RJ but this thread is about who deserves to get a SB ring not RJ. Shawn King sucked worse than RJ last year and nobody mentioned that he doesn't deserve a ring.
Some people on this board have blinders on and post opinions that do not make sense.

So you and Bogus think all 400 of my posts are RJ related? I checked and only 43.3% are RJ threads.
BV you are supposed to have my back, you have gone to the darkside, no Cowboys tickets for you.

I applaud Scott's thread. It seems like we have some Nazis on here who dont like posts that they dont agree with to even be posted(ie, merging, moving, then closing all the RJ threads, including the intelligent one that pointed out how the media made fools out of many of you). If RJ gets a shot in Denver(even though they re-signed Jarius Jackson) I think he might do ok. I dont hate any ex-bills other than the WIFE KILLER for ruining my NBA playoff game with all those ford bronco commercials. Rob isn't the only one who hurt the team, but I guess it just would take you too long to type out the names of the O-line in each post.

Accusing you of loving RJ is like accusing the sky of being blue.

Like TheAnswer said, it's one thing to get one, it's another to shoot your mouth off about it like you were the SBMVP. Do you ever hear Drew shoot his mouth off about his ring? HELL NO, and were it not for him, the Pats wouldn't have even had the opportunity to play in the SB.

Did anyone actually listen to the audio I provided before it got buried? Rob was baited and responded with class, in my opinion.
He was asked "are you over it?" and responded with something like "yeah, I won a ring last year, why wouldnt I be over it?", when questioned about some fans' hatred of him. He kept saying it just "makes for a good story for you guys(the media)", regarding the whole booing thing. Give me a break.

When he's bagging groceries, won't he get some kind of employee discount on food ?

Seriously, all team members "deserve" the ring regardless of the degree of their contribution, but bragging about it is another story. He should just be thankful that he was lucky enough to get one and leave it at that.

I seem to remember some people saying the same thing about him going to Tampa.

if tom didn get hurt in that pitt game then there would have been no need for drew-if drew started the entire season i guarantee pats would not only have NO sb ring, they wouldnt even have made the playoffs. drew played like **** in that pitt playoff game and really lucked out. drew nearly lost it for the pats. missing half his passes and throwing a pass off a pitt defender chest that should have been picked for a easy td the other way. drew did have a td pass.thank god for him he took over on that drive when the ball was on the other side of the field(thankyou tom)

and of course the famous bonehead play were he threw the ball up in the air in the middle of the field to avoid a sacked that was nearly a disaster. again drew lucked out in that game BIGTIME.his 5 cent head nearly got the best of him.he has no right to brag about anything.

Interesting that the thread gets banned once you bring up your example, Arnold. Until then it seems it was just fine to leave it up, as long as it was just bashing Rob. The same thing happened once my thread that had Rob's actual comments on audio was combined with the other RJ threads...it was quickly bannished to another forum, and then CLOSED so that nobody could even reply. I'm not complaining about it per se, but very curious why there is no uniform standard being enforced. I know my questions won't win me any support, but that isn't my main concern here.

Bledsoe has a ring! Do you think he flaunts it like surfer boy?

Bills fans jealous that RJ has a ring. The rag doll!

Listen Geraldo, for the last time--the FREAKING USELESS AUDIO LINK THAT YOU POSTED WAS WORTHLESS!!!!!!! Get it through your thick skull. What people were pissed off about were the surfer boy's comments PRIOR TO THE GAME. No @ss kissing spin that you put on it can change the fact that ROB JOHNSON CALLED BUFFALO AWFUL. That, and the fact that he SUCKS is what got him booed. GET OVER IT!

GOOD GOD.
