Howdy,

I've been playing madden 2004 online for the last 4 weeks and have noticed that using buffalo is always a crap-shoot.

Since Buffalo is my favorite team I really hate to see them lose, even when I play with them online.

I'm sure lots of losers cheat online but I am unsure how as well as what can be done to counteract whatever they are doing.

So my question's are as follows:

1.) What offense/defense playbook(s) work best with the buffalo personnel.

2.) What passing plays, using Buffalo, are the highest percentage of success?

3.) How do you contain Jeremy Shlockey, or any other decent catching TE? I always try to cover the field with CB's but the TE still sneaks through.

4.) Lots of idiots online sub players in/out, the manual does a piss poor job explaining how subbing is done. Can someone explain it to me?

Many thanks,

frank grimes

I always use the Gregg Williams playbook, but that is mostly because I know it by heart and I'm used to it.

I use the Cover 2 Defense.

I'm not to great at covering the TE, the only thing I did to help out my defense was
- I acquired Lawyer Milloy
- I traded a 1st rd. pick and Travis Henry for Champ Baily. I then moved Winfield to the 3rd corner, it has helped out my D a lot.
-The only time I sub out players is I use the depth chart located in coaching strategies (when playing the game) I never sub in or out by formation.

I like to go 4-wide and put Moulds in the slot (using formation changes feature) then have him run a deep post route.

Hit him as he hits the middle of the field. Never fails.

Also, Bobby Shaw in 3-wide (next to Josh) is real effective on slants and outs. Have him run 5 yards and go out to the sideline (hot route), the CB is always slow to react and is also thrown off if Josh Reed runs a slant or streak.... it'll get you a 8-10 yard gain most of the time.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys. Very appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to sub guys in at different positions though.

I've checked out the depth chart under coaching strategies and I've moved Dave Moore into Mark Campbells spot as TE. I am still unsure how I can move Moulds into the slot on the 4 WR formations. Do I need to do this before the game starts online or before and exactly how do you sub players at different formations.

Bills rule baby!

When playing online, you can do on the fly subs by using the package system. On the formation select screen, press the circle button. It will say something like "Strong slot" , "WR switch" "Dual HB" "Jumbo Backfeild" or something of that nature. Different packages go with different formations. For example, you can use a package that puts Moulds in the slot, and takes advantage of a mismatch that puts him up against a linebacker. Or, if McGahee is your backup HB, you can put him and Travis on the field at the same time, giving you a double threat. Experiment with the packages, its intersting to figure out what works and what dosnt. As for defense, I have started running a cover 2 online. Damion Sydney sucks in the game as the number 3 corner. So does Kevin Thomas. To fix this, I sub in Reese at FS, Move Wire to my 3rd corner, and PP as my 4th CB. This keeps more balance on the field, and benches the crappy play of Sydney and PP. I have been using serveral playbooks, but I like the Jags, Phillys, and Denvers the best. Check them out.
