he piling on has been merciless for Kansas State since its 27-20 loss to Marshall last Saturday.

It was reflected in the postings on fan Web sites, and in the following e-mail to The Wichita Eagle on Sunday: "I think K-State will be strong enough to move up and start playing some strong competition such as Northwest and Southeast High."

The Wildcats are being mocked across the country for their home defeat. Ranked No. 6 entering the game and expected to strut unbeaten into an Oct. 4 game at Texas, the Wildcats (4-1) have dropped to No. 16 in the Associated Press poll and are being labeled as overrated.

Too bad Schwinn couldn't get that pass into the endzone at the end of the game. I don't get to see a whole lot of their games and when I do, they stink. Go figure. I would have liked to see Ell. Oh well, watch out Texas.

Kansas State quarterback Ell Roberson is expected to play Oct. 4 against Texas after missing two games with a hand injury.

Roberson practiced Tuesday for the first time since injuring his left, nonthrowing hand Sept. 6 against McNeese State. The Wildcats are idle this weekend.

The timing of Roberson's return is good for Kansas State, which lost to Marshall 27-20 last week after turning the ball over four times.

Jeff Schwinn, Roberson's backup, threw for 241 yards, but he threw an interception, and one of his fumbles in the third quarter resulted in an 84-yard touchdown.

BTW - the people in Witchita hate K-State and the other Big 12 teams for not letting Withchita State into the Big 8. Boo hoo. They can't even get the Kansas Board of Regents to take them in. Waaahh.
