Sounds like a McKee signing may be close:

"Talks continue with restricted free agents Miroslav Satan and Jay McKee, but nothing seems imminent. General Manager Darcy Regier said he talked on the phone with Satan on Tuesday and plans to chat again today. Regier also plans to talk to McKee, whose agent, Pat Morris, submitted a new proposal to the Sabres on Tuesday.

"We did receive something from Pat that we'll discuss with him (today)," Regier said, before breaking into a smile. "I have seen it, and we'll talk to him about it (today)."

I doubt anything is close with McKee.

Unless Jay has finally figured out he has next to no leverage and he has to just take what the Sabres are offering at this point.

So maybe I was wrong....

The Buffalo Sabres have just agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with free agent Jay McKee. Last season McKee scored 5 points (0+5) while posting 49 penalty minutes.

More details to follow:

Good call JJ.

Maybe McKee figured out he has no leverage?

Hopefully it's only a day or so. But you never know.

I'd check nhlpa.com before I'd look in nhl.com. It goes directly with the NHL Players Association and whenever it updates (usually every other day), they have the salary.

let's hope Miro signs a 1 year deal, no long term deal is in sight with the CBA expiring. You'd think he'd go the Travis Henry route, play out the year to his best ability, showcasing for his current team, or the next in line. If he plays like I think he will, I can't see Golisano letting him go, regardless of outcome of the CBA

I want Miro locked up for 3 or 4 years to team with Drury for a while.

They hammered out a two-year deal with a club option for 2005-06. McKee will make $1.7 million this season, at least $2.1 million next season and at least $2.3 million if the Sabres pick up the option.

McKee will receive a $100,000 raise for next season if three of four things happen: he plays 60 games, he averages 19 minutes a game, he has a plus rating, the Sabres make the playoffs.

The option will jump to $2.4 million if the Sabres reach the postseason in one of the next two seasons and to $2.45 million if they advance both seasons.

I even like how the bonuses are structured.
