I think he does deserve it and if he were playing with Red Sox still, you wouldn't be so negative about him. Clemens gave up no runs when he went out. Bullpen keeps ruining for him.

The only reason I don't want him to get it is because he's a Yankee. And all Yankees are evil.
GO RED SOX!!!

Well, we will see if Pedro makes it to his 300th... I doubt it because the RED SOX SUCK!
I didnt start this thread because 1 team is better than another. I think it is a legitimate achievement. It's only a matter of time till Rocket gets it.

OK guys I get the alligences here. Lets try to move along with some more serious talk.
Clemens will eventually win 300, but it may be those Red Sox who have the last laugh this season, as the Yanks look to have some holes that may be tough to fill. Remember, no Rivera, Jeter, Karsay, and now Bernie for at least some portion of the year. With Moose and Pettite crapping it up as of late and run production down, the Bronx Bombers have some real problems. Yankee "haters" are quick to point out that the Boss might just buy a new team before the deadline if this one looks to be unable to make it to October, but it's more complicated than that, I think. The loss of great character and leader types like Broscious, O'Neil, Martinez and even Mendoza is a tough thing to replace.
Yankee talent is never a question, the Boss will se to that, but this year may be the year that Boston and even Toronto have a shot in the East. (Finally!) But make no mistake, the Yanks are always ready to reload if the current team really does suck.

Thanks game.
The Yankees have NOT played well lately while Toronto has. Yankees do have the unlimited bidget, but who knows. I am worried about the Yankees this year

Okay, a couple of things here. First off, Clemons was probably not going to get the win yesterday even if he stayed in, remember he had got himself in jam with only a one run lead.
Second, Pedro won't ever get to 300, he can't stay healthy long enough.
So I am hoping the Cards beat him again on Friday, just because I am still upset about him demanding a trade from the Jays. (Yes, I hold grudges a long time).

I actually think the Red Sox might have a shot at the World Series. I think if the Yankees don't make the playoffs the door is left wide open for the Red Sox, and that is a possibility. If the Sox do win it this year i'll first scream as loud as possible, then i'll rub it in every Yankee fan's face I know. It probibly wont happen, but I can dream. I would love a Yankee, Red Sox ALCS. That would be a absolutely amazing series.

Game you make some valid points. But, bringing up injuries to Jeter and Mariano are fully in the past, and we have survived. And Snarf, if you manage, what do you do? Leave Clemens to attempt to escape the jam for a 300th personal win, and a MEANINGLESS team win, or bring in Juan ASSAMUNCHO to save a meaningless team win? Clemens should've faced Karros, and see the thread I'm posting

Right now, the Yankees don't wanna play anyone. At least they act like it
Not only would the Red Sox blow it if they had the chance to make the playoffs (Toronto, Oakland, ....Damn. KC if the get their act back together)., but chances are they (Sox) will not even get that far. Why? Because there is only one wildcard in the Playoffs and the chances of the Redsox getting it are not to good IMO.

I would bring in someone to pitch from the bullpen because it is not a meaningless win when I have Boston and Toronto right behind me in the standings. In years past the Yankees had room in the standings to blow a game or two, but not this year. I go for the win first, Clemons getting his 300th should be second. Granted the way it worked out the Yankees lost and Clemons did not get 300, but you can't say Joe Torre did not try for the win.
