I have this strange feeling that Thomas Vanek will be wearing a Sabres Uni on draft day. Regier wants to build from youth so will probably draft and not trade for a current NHLer. I like Thomas Vanek a lot. He reminds me of Jaromir Jagr. But his heart may turn him into another JP Dumont or Pavel Brendl. He played in Buffalo during the NCAA Final Four, so they got to take an extra look at him, which is a good thing. Cause if they take him at least they know what he is capable of and it isn't a crapshoot pick, like a European like Zherdev. It only seems right that he ends up with the Sabres. Unless some miracle occurs and Eric Staal or Nathan Horton are still around, I would draft Vanek. I just hope to god they don't draft another goalie or defensman, ala Marc-Andre Fleury(G) or Braydon Coburn(D). The safest thing to do is might be to trade up if the draft is deep in talent like a lot of insiders say. I would take Parise and Nillson.

isn't he a few years from playing in the NHL...i think the sabres need something a little quicker than that!!!

Suppose Vanek takes a few years. Who cares? We are not going to contend this year. When he (or other draftee) does come aboard, watch out.
