Who should be the next Sabres captain?

I was just curious, but who do you all think should be the next Sabres captain??

there don't seem to be any bonafide leaders out there right now, so i say don't put a captain on the ice until someone makes it apparent their ready for it next year. it aso depends on whether we bring in a free agent veteran with captain-like qualities [like the ilanders did with peca].

but if i had to pick someone on the team right now... i guess satan, or maybe mckee.

I agree with ryguy, Jim Patrick would be my choice. . . he has experience, shows up every night {unlike some others}, and can lead by example. . . if he doesn't get the "C", he at least deserves an "A". . .

Satan? Pul-EEZE. Maybe I've still got some lingering anger at him for the vanishing act he pulled at the '99 Finals, but I have to shake my head when I hear him described as our resident "sniper", "superstar", or "legit scoring threat" . . .He's a floater. . . his shot % has gone down each of the last 3 years. . .he had a bit of a rep in Edmonton as someone with talent, but questionable work habits; looks like that's playing out here, too - not ideal captain material IMO. . .

I think Jay McKee. Young, hard hitting defense with much upside in his game. My second guess would be Warrener.

Am i missing something? Why does alot of people think Miro Satan should be captain?

Does skill = captaincy?

He's one of my favorite Sabre players of current and past. He's a world class player and a star in the league.

But, his english isn't all that good. He's a soft spoken type of a guy, we need a captian to give us a spark, a leader someone Satan isn't. He is a solf player, doesn't fit much and doesn't give his all on all plays.

Just my opinion, i wouldn't jump out of my window if he was named captian or i wouldn't cancel my mini-pack but i just think we need someone who is loud and can set a message.

Some good points Kotalik. But, I think the operative word here is SOFT. Satan is super soft, the Sabres as a whole are woefully soft, and that shouldn't continue.

The NHL playoffs are all about grit and being a war of attrition. Having soft, listless players, not to mention the thought of being led by a soft guy that tries 60% of the time is not the start of playoff tough team.

My point is, in order to turn things around, the Sabres should not take the team in that direction. The key is to take a step forward, not backward. Hopefully, they use common sense.....

I used to think that Satan could be Captain, but I totally agree with Kotalik12 on this one.

He could wear an 'A', but the 'C' takes a different type of player to wear it. A Peca type, or a Stevens type. Both of their strongest assests as hockey players is their heart. They have a ton of it, and those types of guys make the best leaders.
