Love him or Hate him, we all read what he has to say... Many times what he has to say is controversial but thats what makes him JoeMama... And here's the interview...
FoSho: What approval rating would you give bush? Why?
JM: I could give a percentage... but why bother. Everyone knows I'm going to slap a big fat "F" on little George's report card (not that he isn't used to that). What hasn't this madman done in 2 short years...? He's subsidized the contruction of churches, subsidized SUVs, rolled back privacy laws, rolled back the separation of church & state, repealed anti-discrimination acts, pushed tax cuts that aren't helping the economy, wasted 11 trillion dollars (only a third of which actually goes towards the war on terrorism), & led pre-emptive strikes against a country who was not a direct threat to the US. Iraq's longest ranging missile was 200 miles, kids. If Bush wasn't such a communist when it comes to social issues, I'd confuse him for a Democrat.
FoSho: In you opinion was the 2000 election fair?
JM: It's not Bush's fault Gore lost his home state & Clinton's home state. Had Gore won either, he'd currently be snoozing in the White House. You can't blame Bush for winning the electoral college. There were sneaky tactics deployed here in Florida on election night (like police barricades in black neighborhoods or the list of social security numbers sent to Florida from TEXAS that stipulated which Floridians could not vote because their numbers were similar to convicted felons), but that's life in these United States of Whatever.
FoSho: If you could refer the readers of these message boards to a news/political website what would it be?
JM: Either morons.org (a libertarian website ran by a gay guy) or infidels.org (a good skeptics newspage).
FoSho: Who do you want to win the 2004 election?
JM: As long as it isn't Joe Lieberman or George Bush, I'll be happy.
FoSho: What is something that you would change about this country if possible?
JM: I would decriminalize drugs, restore privacy laws, take the separation of church & state to a new level, reduce the role of the US military internationally (aka: non-interventionists), & overturn every ridiculous county-level law in America.
FoSho: Death Pentaly? Good or Bad?
JM: Good & bad. Who doesn't love killing losers? At the same time, its not economically sound. The average execution ends up costing the taxpayer more than the average life sentence. So I'm torn between my love for killing & my love for fiscal responsibility...
FoSho: Where were you when you find out about the attacks on September 11th?
JM: This is a dumb question. No one cares where I was on September 11th.
FoSho: Whats something about you that would surprise some people on this board?
JM: That I'm actively searching for a soulmate who shares my negative world view. My perfect girl will hate children, hate religious fundemantalism (in any form), hate reality shows, hate Ann Coulter, hate Maine, hate dancing, & hate SUVs. But above all, she better hate dancing the most. Dancing makes me envy cripples.
FoSho: Favorite movie?
JM: I love Guy Ritchie's first two movies (Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels), all of Wes Anderson's movies (Bottlerocket, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums), & most Coen brothers films (Fargo, Oh Brother... Where Art Thou, Man Who Wasn't There). If you dislike any of these, you are stupid.
FoSho: Whats your favorite book?
JM: like Catcher in the Rye because Holden Caulfield is my hero. I love 1984 because it reminds me how much I hate John Ashcroft for stripping Constitutional rights. I also like the Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond, which is a good book about hominid evolution.
Thats it for this interview... Thank you JoeMama for your time...

Joe, what is with your insistence on isolationism? I agree that the US often makes a mess out of things but not always. I think if covert action were outlawed somehow, I'd be satisfied. I supported the military action in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and to a certain extent Iraq (as long as the 500,000 projection on the number of casualties didn't come true). It's the undercover CIA crap that needs to stop. The fact that they won't be under scrutiny that makes them think that they can do whatever they want.
Where were you on 9/11 and will your refusal to answer provoke a flury of internet activity by Shiva?
Good selection of movies and books.

Isolationism is not non-interventionism. That's common misconception!
Isolationism is refraining from forming economic or political ties with other countries.
Non-interventionism simply means NOT meddling in foriegn affairs where the US is not directly threatened.
I simply beleive that we have domestic issues that are more important than solving the myriad of international problems where people are not living in an ideal political society. Iraq is only one of many countries that suffer under a cruel leader or unstable system (you probably saw my other thread where I listed them).

That might be true where you live, but in the rest of the country we have a recession, and while I listened to a Bush minion telling me about the wonderful tax cuts, all the states are having to raise taxes and cut services because they can't run at a deficit.
Of course, the wonderful economic times under Clinton obviously had nothing whatsover to do with his policies. :D

Uh...
Greenspan isn't happy with Bush's economic policy... & he's a Reagan appointee!
By the way, what's up with this denial mode about the state of the economy? Our invincible economy has a cold. It will get better in the long run... & no politician will be responsible.

first off state and federal are too a large extent independent of each other. I would say that our economy right now is doing better then expected. We should be in a recession but we're not.

Greenspan has called for tax cuts for years. Specifically tax cuts very similar to the ones Bush is pushing. The timing is bad, that's all. If Bush doesn't cut taxes who will? Prez Hilliary?
You are right it is a cold, it will get better, and no politician will be responsible but someone will claim to be!:opera:

Well, aren't you amazingly well rounded.
When dancing to hip hop, I learned the ultimate trick to *appearing* as though you know what you're doing.
Just let the girl you're dancing with do whatever she wants to do--& all the while--hold up a hand in the air or hold up a beer. It makes you look cool & people may be tricked into thinking you can booty dance to some extent.

All you've gotta do is move your hips the same way she does. That way, you know how close she wants to get without pushing too far. She'll let you know how hard to grind.
