I have only been around for the last 10 years in Baseball so I don't know much about the earlier disaster teams like the expansion Mets or 32' BoSox, but I think the question must be asked...

Are the 2003 Detroit Tigers the worst team to ever play in MLB?

Consider:

The Tigers have started the season 4-25.

No one on the team is hitting above .235 with at least 70 AB.

No one on the team has more than 3 HR.

They have been outscored 151-74 so far this year.

Team BA is .195.

Team ERA is 4.70.

YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is way to early in the season to be calling them the worst team in baseball history. Now if they keep putting up numbers like they are around July, then they might be the worst team ever. I think they will get some more wins once the season gets going more just because of the unbalanced schedule, and the rest of the Central division is pretty bad too. The Tribe is only five wins ahead of the Tigers, Chicago and Minnesota are not playing the way most expected them to, and Kansas City is coming back down to earth. So how does the same guy who owns the Red Wings and Tigers get one of the best hockey teams and the worst baseball team?

^Good question, but the Wings aren't the best hockey team anymore, either!

Don't the tigers have a winning streak going?

Yep, a three game winning streak, up to six wins. The Tigers have doubled their winnings in three days. The Tribe better look out they are only three games up on that baseball power in Detroit.
