Despite enough controversey to fill the front page of the New York Post for a week, the New York Yankees are off to the best start in MLB this season, and their best team start in the storied history of Yankee baseball. A 15-1 slaughter of the Twins today gave the Yankees a 16-3 start, outhomering the Twins 12-1 in their series.
The Yankee starting pitching has yet to lose a game, the longest streak in major league history to start a season. They are now 14-0 as a staff.
All this has been done without Yankee all-stars Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter, who will both return later this season.
It seems that after 2 whole years without a World Series win, the Yankees are ready to steamroll the AL on their way to the 27th World Championship in the team's history.
Can they be stopped?
(I hope so, I hate the damn Yankees)

The entire Yankee season comes down to the weeks in October.
They can run the table this season but no ring makes it a lost season and you never know how a 5 or 7 game series will go.

I think they've started with an easy schedule. Of all the road games so far they have played in domes; Toronto, Tampa, Minnesota, remember it's April the coldest month in the regular season. While at home they have played dome teams Toronto, Tampa and Minnesota, these teams are not what you'd call the titans of MLB. It looks like MLB set up the Yanks again.
Now they play on the West Coast where there are actually good teams. We'll see the Yanks true stripes. If they win, maybe they are on there way to another title courtesy of Steinbrenners wallet.

Last season, I took a trip down from Boston to Baltimore to catch a few games. Turned out that they were playing the Yanks each game I went to. I had a "Yankees Suck" shirt ready for each game. When Clemens pitched, I had my "Clemens Sucks" shirt. I had a Yankees Suck/ Jeter Swallows #2 (on the back of the shirt) shirt for the 3rd game. The O's ushers asked me to take it off, and it was a good thing I had a shirt on underneath. So, anyway, it was during batting practice, and Andy Pettite was going around giving autographs. So I scrunched up my shirt so all it said was Yankees, and handed it to Pettite. When all was said and done, I had a "Yankees Suck" shirt autographed by Andy Pettite... its still hanging up in my room now... :D

Well, game one against the vaunted champs still leaves the yanks with the best record. 50 stars and 13 stripes may not be wrong, but neither is 27 CHAMPIONSHIPS

Don't jump ahead of yourself hurls, the Yanks only have 26 Championships. If you ever catch a game on YES, they say it about every two minutes.

This is so true . . .
A great start. Especially form the starting pitching, which looked lost in last yaers playoffs. "Anything can happen" in 7 game series, but it's ususlly the starting pitching that makes it happen. Without pitching in the playoffs, it is almost impossible for a team to win it all.
The most encouraguing sign in the Yanks rotation, to me, has been Musina. He had a tough 2002, but looks to be back in 2003.
If Rivera is healthy at the end of the year, the bullpen should be strong. If the starting pitching continues to go as well as they are right now, look out.

Sorry, Snarf, was counting this years'. Anyways I listen to the Jays every night on a.m. radio, since dumbass buffalo execs put yankees and sabres on stations you need to be in their parking lot in order to pick up. 40 miles south of buff, and i get canadian channels in better. What a great city buffalo is. go Yanks and Jays!!

Hey hurls, no problem, except there is not going to be one this year :nana: I listen to the Jays on radio as much as I can too. But thats because I am a Jays fan. You are right about WNSA, I live down the street from Empire/WNSA and I have to position my radio just right to pick it up. 590 from Toronto comes in great, and 610 sorta comes in when the Jays get the boot off 590 for a Raptors game.
