It's sad what the WWE did to the Intercontenental title. It used to be a prized belt held by such greats as Bret, Shawn, Rock, HHH, Razor and others. And now it dosen't even exist.
The title started to lose it's value in late 98. When The Rock dropped it to HHH at Summer Slam that year HUnter only had it for a month or so. Then the title starting shifting around and was never the same.

I hope they eventually bring the belt back. There needs to be a mid level belt for the up and coming wrestlers in the business.

I agree I remember, one of the best matches I have ever seen was HBK vs Razor Ramon Ladder Match. It was awesome

They need both the IC and Hardcore title brought back, send 1 to each show to give both shows 4 titles, a nice balance.

That's a good idea The Game, but instead of the Hardcore title, they should use the European Title.

Exactly, instead of throwing John Cena into a title match with Lesnar, he should have the IC belt, beat all challengers to give him a big push, then get the ppv match against Brock.
I remember when the IC ppv matches were better than the world title matches. While Hogan was going at it with big slow guys, like Bundy, Earthquake, Kamala, Andre, Akeem the African Dream (One Man Gang), the IC matches were stealing the show with Savage, Steamboat, Michaels, Hart, Perfect, etc.
They used to say the world title sells the ppv, but the IC strap makes the ppv.

Im sure they will sooner or later, hopefully sooner. I loved IC title matches and loved watching hardcore title matches.

So true! I remember Macho Man holding on to the IC title for over a year straight before losing to Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3. That really meant something. Nowadays, titles change hands every other week it seems sometimes.
And the IC matches always did steal the show. That is until the Ultimate Warrior won it. His matches consisted of running around for about 10 minutes, shaking the ropes and screaming, and doing a gorilla press and that was that. I liked the IC title around the waists of the better scientific finesse wrestlers, like Savage, Steamboat, Mr. Perfect, Hart and HBK.

That remindes me. Remember when the Warrior held the I.C. title. He had a white one (that was different), and I believe a yellow one too. His I.C. title was crazy.

yea. he kept switching the color of the strap. that was kind of odd. maybe he kept breaking the belt strap when he swung it around his head for 5 minutes before the match even started.

There is a rumor that Vince McMahon always had extra copies of the IC title because Warrior would constantly lose them or give them away at bars.

actually, I don't think the wrestlers actually leave with the belts and carry them with them for those reasons. it can get pretty expensive to have to keep making new belts. pretty sure they have to leave the belts with the road managers or something.

I don't know about the other belts, but the world champion always takes the belt with him. This was the main reason McMahon screwed Bret Hart, he didn't want him showing up on Nitro with his belt.
In the old WCW/NWA, the champ had to leave a bigtime deposit for the belt, that would be payed back when you were no longer the champ.
Ric Flair was the world champ and was going to leave for the WWF, but was having problems getting his deposit back, so he just kept the belt and showed up on WWF TV with it. This was the angle where he was calling himself the real world champ instead of Hogan.

Thanks Diesel83. Good info. I remeber they had to blur Ric Flair's belt out of WWF TV. The WWF kind of dropped the ball on the Flair/Hogan feud. They never got to wrestle on a big time pay per view against each other. it would have been huge.
