I follow Baseball just about as much as Football or anything else, and my favorite team has been the Braves ever since I've been watching the sport.

This season, is, admittidly, the possible end of the epic Braves' run that has encompassed the past decade. Our rotation, severely userped over the last two years, has lost standouts John Burkett and Kevin Millwood, as well as franchise starters John Smoltz and Tom Glavine, one to our own bullpen and one to the Mets. Our lineup is nothing to write home about, either. From 1st to 3rd, we sport names like Fick, Marcus Giles, Furcal, and Castilla. The outfield is home to the Jones' boys and Gary Sheffield, but all three are off to slow starts this season, and Andrew seems to have hit a wall offensivly over the last 2 seasons, becoming a power hitter with a heavy strikeout ratio. At catcher, Javy Lopez continues to be an enigma. His offensive production has steadily fallen over the past 3 seasons, and he is no great jem defencivly either. I look for the Phillies to take the division this season, with my Braves missing the postseason entirely for the first time since I have been watching them.

Anyone else like the Braves?
I'm sure a lot of you don't like them, too!

The Braves just defeated the Marlins 3-0, Russ Ortiz got the win, seven shut out innings.

We took 3 out of 4 from the Marlins on this homestand, record now is:

3-4

I'll post each game's box score here from now on. I'll get this one later.

I love Ortiz, he'll be our best starter this season, although I also have high hopes for Hampton as well if he ever gets healthy.

I'm liking the chance of Marquis' development to hit full stridethis year, along with Hampton surprising ppl.

Ya i heard but might not be a good thing. He was clocked at 89 as his high.

Maddux is stinkin up the joint this year.

^Throwing hard is not the only part of being succesfull. Maddux is a perfect example. In his hall of fame career, he was never a fire-baller, but used location and speed changes to manipulate and dominate hitters.

Reynolds doesn't have maddux stuff though. I've seen him pitch, nothing special. Anything helps though, maybe he's improved since i last seen him. I hope he proves me wrong.

Yeah, I was definately hoping in the offseason that the Braves could pick up Wade Miller, but unfortunately he re-signed with the Astros right before the deadline the Braves could start talking to him.

MiamiMasterpiece

Wade Miller would have been a good solid pickup if he would have stayed healthy. Braves pitching staff is jinxed this year. I think Wade Miller will have a good year in Houston.

Am much needed off day for my Braves yesterday. What a rough start to the season! Ortiz looked great until his last start, Maddux has had his well documented problems, Byrd and Hampton are still hurt and the offence has been it's usual Jeckle/Hyde self. I'm really concerned about all of the teams in our division, save for the Mets. Florida looks strong, as does Montreal, but Philly really impressed me. Padilla is a strong ace, and with Thome in that lineup, look out.

I'd love to see the Braves go on a roll here against the Expos and then Philly, but we'll see what develops...

My feeling is that the Braves should have won about six World Series in the past 15 years, but the reason I feel that they haven't is because Bobby Cox gets out managed in the post season.

I am also a big Braves fan, and at the beginning of this year I thought that this could be the end, but I am starting to think different now. Not only do we have one of the best records but we have 7 All-Stars, including Russ Ortiz, who was a big pickup to the rotation.....don't forget, Paul Byrd will come back from his injury eventually, which really can't hurt......
