View Full Version : The Draft as I see it.

The Bills now have the option that every other team only wishes they could have. Draft the best player available.

2 weeks ago everyone on this board was dead set to draft a DT but now with SA I see different positons forming. Alot of the draft all depands on who is thier. I see the Bills biggest needs at DE, S, & OL. The Bills could get lucky and get an impact player at the 23 postion from other teams having to reach to fill holes on thier teams.

I like Haynes in the 1 or guard K. Harris if he falls

In the 2 I see Saftey Hamlin or maybe Faine if he falls.

Just like any Nfl team it is alot of if and hopes when it comes to players falling in the draft. The one thing that is certain is some good player falls every year and some bust player goes up every year. I have total faith that TD will bring home a good group of players on April 28, 2003.

I like Hamlin. If he is there at #2, then I woudl definitely take him. Palamalu is also another option, but I doubt he will be there by our 2nd pick.

Haynes is a good DE. I would mind taking Boss Bailey if he falls that low either. Kelly Washington is another option if he's is there.

Hamlin has had multiple run-ins with the law and has a possible alcohol problem (2 DWIs). I would stay away from him.

Kelly Washington has loads of talent, but even more attitude, if you can believe the draft pubs. He isn't high on my list either.

I do agree though, the Bills have put themselves in the nice position of not having any glaring needs so they can take whoever they think is the best player available in each round.
I still think that they need to look at DT as Adams and Williams are not young and both have considerable mileage on them.

With Reese and Wire I don't see safety as a priority anymore. We filled ALOT of holes in free agency. Considering our cuts and weeknesses we NEEDED to come away with these this offseason:

2 OLBs
1 DT
1 FS
1 FB (we cut Centers)
1 TB
1 CB (to replace Watson)
1 WR
1 Placekicker

We went and signed Posey, TKO, Sam Adams, Reese, Gash, Lindell, and Shaw.

Looking at this ball club DE and MAYBE Tailback are the only positions where a rookie could really have an impact and if we sign O. Gary then just DE.

It looks like our biggest "weaknesses" besides DE are actually at the backup OLB positions, and all along the OL. Whata remarkable job TD has done rebuilding this team. There is hardly a roster spot for a Safety, DT, or WR and those were supposed to be our weak points. Looking at our depth chart it would not be a bad plan at all to go DE in round 1 or 2 and draft 3-4 OL overall. We have a versital OL where every players but Ruben can play another spot but Price is the only experianced backup on the club. My new plan for the draft - go OL whenever a good one is there. Great job TD!!

So pretty much with 7 picks I figure:

1 DE
1 CB
1 OLB
3 OL
1 WR

and I'd love to see 2 of the OL come byt the end of round 4. We'd have a couple years to groom them so when we cut Ruben (which will happen one day) or Sullivan/Jennings leave by FA we'll have people to plug in.

We need a DE the most IMO.
