For those who think Wonderlic scores are a useful tool in evaluating draft prospects, I found that NFL Draft World has what looks to be a fairly complete list. I don't know how he got them but they are posted on his message board. Here's the link:

I think Wonderlic scores are more helpful for some positions than others. I want my QB to have a head on his shoulders. The free safety makes secondary calls and MLBs make defensive calls. They have to recognize quickly what the offence is doing, take into account down and distance and make calls with very limited time. Forrest Gump would probably not make a good MLB.

The Wonderlic test is an intelligence test used at the NFL combine. Basically, the higher the score the smarter the player though I don't know if there is any way to equate a wonderlic score to a player's IQ. I would guess that Kevin Curtis, the University of Utah player who scored a 48 is probably a genius, while Santonio Beard, who scored a 7 probably has trouble spelling his name correctly.

How does it translate into playing football? Kordell Stewart is a gifted athlete who did not score well on the Wonderlic. Bill Cowher finally figured out that Stewart probably never would really grasp reading defences. He had to run a dumbed down offensive scheme for the Steelers. It worked OK for a while, but I think if defences know that the ability of the offence to run a lot of different plays is hampered by the QB, they will be able to control that team a lot better. Wonderlic is not the only indicator of what a player can do in the pros, but if I'm a GM looking for a QB, I like to see a Wonderlic score up around 30. A score under 20 definitely raises a red flag. A QB who scores an 18 had better have some really compelling reason for me to overlook that score.

If I'm looking for a defensive end I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. It was maybe 15 years ago the was a fracas over the fact that a DE for the Redskins who had gone through college and was functionally illiterate, yet he was a very effective DE.
