Do we really have anyone who is a true leader? I know brown and warrenner have been mentioned but are they really the kind of leaders tis young team needs? They chose Stu over these to and I was never really sold on his ability to motivate. I think this could be a problem for this team.

they may need to bring in a veteran for that.

They need to worry about talent more than leadership at this point in time.

I agree that talent is lacking, but to bring in free agents b4 the CBA dosen't make much sense. And with all the young guys coming around like kotalik, campbell, tallinder, briere, and even connolly, someone to help them focus would be nice.
Does anyone believe in a rotating captiancy for next season, and give a young guy a chance to step it up?

If you are going to make Satan the cornerstone of your team then you might as well go all the way and make him the captain. He seemed to relish the leadership role when he played for Slovakia in the Worlds and Olympics and he is really the only Sabre that has the ability to take over a game.
But then again a new coach would probably mean a whole new group of favorites. Under different coaching somebody we never thought of might emerge as a top notch player and vice versa.

i hope so, with our youth leadership and motivation can mean a lot. We need a mean guy like hatcher, imao

curtis brown could be the captain of the christian youth group hockey team
Miro should be captain of the "I only play hard 60% of the time and never get my nose dirty" team
In other words, both are way too soft and not good choices at all!

Mair would be my number 1 choice, only because I'm not sure if Satan's heart is in it anymore?

I see Satan being the captain over both Warrener and Brown. Everyone talks about his streakyness or his inconsistancy, yet he's really the only consistant goalscorer/performer we've had for years.
Just like last night......He's got Pyatt with him on a two on one, Pyatt needs one more for the hat. Satan floats a perfect saucer pass over to Pyatt, and all he has to do is put his stick on the ice.
He's got the skill, he's got the leadership (Olympics, and Worlds like buffjoe said). He's got that high player profile like most Captains in the league do, and he plays in all situations. He's now one of the oldest players on the team, and we are building around him.
I wouldn't mind seeing Satan with the 'C' at all.

Satan gets my vote. I agree with Thump's points. Maybe this would help him focus the other 40% of the time.

I like either Mair or Warrener, and who knows? Maybe Briere

Like Thumper was saying about Satans streakiness,he still is our most consistent goal-scorer ever since he came here. I vote for him for captain. Warrener and Briere can be the alternates.

Briere seems kind of quiet. Hecht gets little mention, but he seems pretty quiet as well

I don't agree with the "he's our top scorer and most consistent player" argument. The captain of hockey team is typically somebody that embodies the whole attitude and personality of a team. The captain has all the intangibles, the little things that make him the leader. So, if Miro was the captain, the sabres could be looked at as a soft, mostly uninspired, play from the perimeter team. I don't want that.
Do we really want a captain in Miro that was all for being traded not that long ago. The sabres should have a captain that WANTS to be a sabre and bleeds the team colors (hopefully blue and gold soon). Miro is NOT captain material.
Just think of some of the best captains of all time. Miro is not in the same ilk as those guys.
