1) Bengals- Carson Palmer QB Southern Cal. Adding Palmer to a offense that includes Dillion, Warrick, and Johnson a Bengal fan could actually start to believe.... that's before Mike Brown losses all thoes guys

2) Lions- Charles Rogers WR Michigan State. Rogers fills a big need in a big way. Harrington to Rogers should be something all of us should get used to because we will hear it alot.

3) Texans- Jimmy Kennedy DT Penn State. This move allows then to move Payne back to end and put their 3 best down linemen on the field (Walker, Kennedy, and Payne).

4) Bears- Terrell Suggs DE Arizona State. Adds instant credibility to the Bears pass rush. Him and Brown could combine for ungodly amounts of sacks in the windy city.

5) Cowboys- Terence Newman CB Kansas State. The Cowboys biggest need (secondary) is filled by the top corner in the draft.

6) Cardinals- Byron Leftwich QB Marshall. There rebuilding in Arizona so you might as well pick up a franchise QB while your at it.

7) Vikings- Dewayne Robertson DT Kentucky. In a divison where the other teams starting running backs have surpassed 1000 yards either this season or the previous it is wise to bolster your DT crop.

8) Jaguars- Andre Johnson WR Miami. It is important for the Jags to find another wide reciever to complement Jimmy Smith. Johnson is not only a complement but in a few years can be a all star.

9) Panthers- Eric Steinbach OG/OT Iowa. Having problems all over your o-line like the Panthers have it is wise to draft the most flexable OL in the draft, and a damn good one at that.

10) Ravens- Kwame Harris OT Stanford. Ogden is fine on the left side but name the Ravens right tackle. Well now you can.

11) Seahawks- Michael Haynes DE Penn State. Entrenched himself as the second best DE with 40 runs in the 4.6 range at Penn State's pro day.

12) Rams- Jordan Gross OT Utah. same situation as in Baltimore but only reversed. Turley is fine at RT but who is their LT, well now you know.

13) Jets- Kevin Williams DT Oklahoma State. SInce they can still get the same reciever with their 22nd pick, they get the best DT available.

14) Patriots- Johnathon Sullivan DT Georgia. Improving the run D is top priority for the Pats and Sullivan is a step in the right direction.

15) Chargers- Marcus Trufant CB Washington State. Jammer was their only legit corner. But now they got 2.

16) Chiefs- Jerome McDougle DE Miami. The Chiefs first choice (Trufant is gone) so they address the next biggest issue... DE. The Cheifs may have passed on Douglas but McDougke has Douglas potential.

17) Saints- Boss Bailey OLB Georgia. Quick name ne New Orleans 2 OLB's..... well now you know 1 of them.

18) Saints- Andre Woolfolk CB Oklahoma. The Saints get very luchy this year. They get to address there 2 biggest area's of need by drafting two future big time play makers.

19) Patriots- E.J. Henderson ILB Maryland. Sullivan was step 1 in fixing the run D. Henderson is step 2.

20) Broncos- Kenny Peterson DE/DT Ohio State. With question marks at both DE and DT it is nice to draft a player who can play both.

21) Browns- George Foster OT Georgia. The Browns might be streching a little here, but they fill their biggest need.

22) Jets- Kelley Washington WR Tennessee. The long term solution to the loss of Coles.

23) Bills- Dennis Weathersby CB Oregon State. In a leauge which is seeing more and more multiple reciever sets you can never have enough quality CB's on your roster. Weathersby would up the Bills total to 4 (5 if you count Reese).

24) Colts- William Joseph DT Miami. April 26 must be Dungy's birthday because he gets the steal of the draft. In Joseph he gets his very own Warren Sapp.

25) Giants- Bryant Johnson WR Penn State. The Giants found out that Toomer, Schokey, and Barber was not enough. Now they get to see if adding Johnson is enough.

26) 49ers- Rien Long DT Washington State. When the niners lost Stubbafield you knew that there 1st would go towards a DT. Now you know who.

27) Steelers- Troy Polamalu SS Southern Cal. You lose Flowers so what do you do? Add a guy who has Flowers type potential.

28) Titans- Taylor Jacobs WR Florida. If Derrick Mason is your only proven reciever you know you got to spend a 1st on a WR.

29) Packers- Kyle Boller QB California. Even though Farve hasen't retiered yet all his talk about retierment has to make you nervous if your the Packer G.M. SO to calm yourself you draft the best available QB and let him learn from one of the best.

30)Eagles- Chris Kelsay DE Nebraska. WHen you lose your best DE you got to make it up somehow. Drafting the best available DE is a good start.

31) Raiders- Mike Doss SS Ohio State. After there D got torn up in the Super Bowl you need to toughen it up. Doss will do that.

32) Raiders- Dewayne White DE Louisville. This might be a little bit of a reach but he may be gone by the end of the 2nd round. White adds a pass rush that was lacking in the current Raider DE's.

And there it is. My 1st round mock. I hope you enjoyed it and please feel free to say how you feel about my mock.

But before I go. I got to finish the Bills draft!

2nd rounder) Terrence Holt FS North Carolina State. Prioleau and Reese are nice players, but Holt has the potential to be a future great FS.

3rd rounder) Derrick Dockery OG Texas. We hit gold last year with a Texas o-linemen, so why not try again. DOckery adds much nedded depth to the gaurd position, and if he pans out he can be a future replacement for Ruben Brown.

4th rounder) Lebrandon Toefield RB LSU. We need a legit backup for Henry and Toefield can be just that. He has tremedous upside.

5th rounder) Brandon Drumm FB Colorado. Being a Buffaloes fan I have seen this guy plenty of times and he is the complete package.

6th rounder) Kliff Kingsbury QB Texas Tech. Lets bring in a guy who can actually challenge Travis Brown. Kingsbury has good upside and it's the 6th round so why not.

7th rounder) Shurron Pierson DE South Florida. Small school kid and small DE. BUt he is fast around the edge. If this actually happens then I deserve the title of Mel Kiper JR. ....... JR. LOL!

Kingsbury would be a great backup! Reminds me of Franky R.

Once you get past the 5th round you stop looking at position and start focusing on the player. And if Kingsbury is still around he is worth a serious look.

Yeah Kingsbury can wing it, I'd love to see him picked up sometime in the draft.

He ran a hurry up O like a pro in a CONF. that is not easy to play in. He would be a steal to get and put behind DB.

Shurron Pierson DE South Florida is projected to go a lot earlier than the 7th rd. He should go around 3rd or 4th. He is suppose to be a sleeper with good upside. I hope we grab him at some point of time.

I was surprised that you waited until the final round to pick a defensive lineman. Now that we have Sam Adams do you think TD will not go after a Dt in the first few rounds?

March 26th, 2003, 7:43:30 AM
Yeah if william joseph is there when we pick i would take him over weathersby. You need as many good D-lineman as possible. then go defensive back in round 2

I know mock drafts are for fun, but if I were to give mine I would have done the following differently:
1. Bungles - I either see them trading down or drafting Suggs. I know everyone feels they want Palmer but I don't.
2. 49ers - Rein Long - Everything that I have been reading on Long is that he is dropping down the draft list faster than anyone. I can actually see him dropping to the 2nd round.
3. GB - Kyle Boller - I think that Boller has risen higher than this pick. He may have the potential to be taken ahead of Leftwich.
4. Kris Kelsay, Neb - I can see him dropping to the 2nd round. I also see Ty Warren, DT, Tex rising ahead of him in the rankings.

OTHER PLAYERS POSSIBLY IN THE FIRST ROUND
1. Jason Witten, TE, Ten - possibly to the Bills
2. Terry Pierce, ILB, Kan St - possibly to the Browns, the need is higher for a LB than OL.
3. Brandon Lloyd, WR, Ill - I think I like him better than Bryant Johnson and even Taylor Jacobs.
4. Rasheen Mathis, S, Bethune-Cookman - Many people have put him above Polamalu who has the hitting ability but the coverage abilities are average at best.

Kingsbury will get killed in the NFL. He has problems dealing with fast Defenses which would be all he would see in the NFL.

His arm is not strong. He is the same as Josh Huepel. Mike Leach ran both offenses. He is not an NFL player.

Just becaue we may draft Weathersby does not mean that Winfield is automatically gone after this season. Like I said in today's game you can never have enough good CB's. Just look at the Eagles. They went into last saeason with Taylor and Vincent, two of the top corners in the leauge. And in last years draft they spent their 1st 3 picks on secondary (2 corners 1 saftey).

If you look at our roster we are pretty deep with d-linemen. I really don't see the Bills drafting d-linemen till the 2nd day. We have bigger areas of need like secondary, and o-line depth.

D-Roc, I do like your mock draft for the most part. I can see the need for secondary and O-line, more so O-line. That always seems to be an area of most injuries. If we were to take Faine that would make players more versitile in filling needs as they arise. With that said, I'm just not ready even with all the help we still might need at back up positions to surrender taking the best available player. There are gonna be a lot of Jewels to choose from.

D-Rocafella
March 26th, 2003, 11:40:12 AM
Alot of people are high on Faine andI am one. But unless we trade down I really think the Bills would be in a bad position to draft him. 23 is a little to high for Faine and by the time we are on the board in the 2nd round he will be long gone.

Look out for Dockery. I have us taking him in the 3rd round. He comes from Texas and they seem to know hoe to produce great offensive linemen there. Dockery would supply great depth at both gaurd positions and could even become a future replacement for Ruben Brown.

Not at all sold on Dockery. The guy is sssssllllllllooooooowwwww, has played overweight most of the last season and gets beaten by faster lineman.

He has some redeeming abilities as an interior run blocker, but I don't think he has the footspeed to lead on a sweep.

Not a Bill to me.

LIke you said askabry he has redemable qualities. ANd it's not like we would draft him and start him right away. He would be groomed behind Brown. And having a former line mate and buddy on the team will help him out.

Sure droc- it's not like the guy's got no shot. They all do, and he's a big, big man which can be a benefit. From what I've seen, on a good day he's Jamie Nails; on a bad day, he's Jamie Nails in a Buffalo uniform.

I'd say after #25 goes off the board, they've all got their warts. You pick the ones who have the least defective warts for your system and needs.

It has been about a month since I put up this mock. And now looking back on it, it still looks pretty good to me. Can't wait till draft day to see how many picks I get right. I know all the draft day trades will screw my predictions up but it's still fun to see how many picks I can get right.

I'm not a Kingsbury believer. I thing the college allstar games, where Kingsbury sucked are a foreshadowing of his NFL career. Weathersby is a possibility for the Bills. Some years it seems everybody knows who the Bills will draft. This year is the direct opposite. Even right now there are probably ten different players that various mock drafts project as possible first round picks.
