Well guys it appears doug Gilmours career is over. He collided with Dave Lowry 5 mins into his return lastnight, it appears he blew out his knee. Too bad really, even if your not a leaf fan it is always fun to watch a guy end his career with the right team.

While Doug Gilmour was a good player, one of the best of all-time is a real stretch. As much as I did not like the guy before and after Buffalo, I will admit he was a hell of a player, and in his first season in Buffalo, he made a great impact to get the Sabres in the playoffs. But he was not one of the best of all time. He was never even the best in the game in one point in his career.

Karma is a funny thing, isn't it? You call Gilmour a legend and joke about Lafontaine's concussions. Looks like the chickens have come home to roost.

Too bad that POS got injured though.

other then a 4 or 5 year stint with the Leafs he wasn't even the best player on his team.

13th all-tiem in scoring is enough for me to say he was one of the best of all-time. player i thought you would love the guy, he is 5,8 of your pure heart. isn't fleury your favorite player?

To be a HOF you need to be the best, Fleury I think is very close but who knows.I don't put Gilmour in the same category as a Sakic, Yzerman, Hasek, etc... do you.

for sure i do, you don't have to be at that level to make the HOF, Darry sittler was never the best in the game. would you consider him a HOF'er?

Nice to see what goes around comes around for the old goat. He should have retired 5 years ago, now all he is a washed up has-been.

i disagree the game, why should he have retired? He was a great player in the playoffs last year. And you don't think varada cheap shotted theodore?
