Now that some of the off season question marks have been answered (Spikes at WLB and Posey AT SLB) the next big question is who will be the pick at #1. Until TD makes his decisions on Adams, Dyson, Shaw, etc.. there is plenty of mystery around this selection. My feeling is that since there will be so many DL selections in front of us this may not be the place to go with the #1 pick. I have a feeling that a high caliber player at either OL, RB, WR, and DB will fall to us. We will be much better served by picking the 2nd or 3rd rated player at these positions then say the 6th or 7th rated DL prospect(remember Phil Dokes). I would love for Lee Suggs of Vtech to fall to us. TD has a history of picking the best player on the board regardless of position and I think we would be served well with this approach. Since the posters on this board seem to know way more then myself I look forward to hearing your respones. Do not just throw a name out there please explain your reasoning.

We are going to go defensive tackle, whether we sign Adams or not. I think we'll carry 4 DT and 5 DE's into the season with Irons or Denny dropping down to the PS.

Best DT available.

I could also see a wide receiver like Taylor Jacobs. He was the favorite target of qb's at the senior bowl. Simms talked about him a ton on the Dan Patrick show.

Excellant replies, just the kind of banter I was trying to get. Taylor Jacobs would be an excellant selection at #23. No way will Suggs be there at #14 of the second round. As I stated earlier we would be getting the 6th or 7th best DL prospect at #23 and if anyone will be there in round 2 it will be a quality DL prospect.

Will Suggs last into the 2nd? I don't think so.

i think we should take a look at mike doss, if he still there with our second pick, we need help at free safety, our first pick should be a dl with some good pass rush.

I dont think TD will go DL in the first round unless someone falls that he had ranked high but i doubt that will happen. This is by far the deepest DL draft in a long time and I think TD will be bale to get a solid player in the second round

With the expected run on DL in the first round some good players are going to go lower then they normally would have and I think TD will go this route.

I look for TD to take a DB( CB, S ) and an OL high in this draft

I think if we open up our options to DE or DT, we'll find someone good at #23. My own favorites are Rien Long and Dewayne White - both are athletic guys who were very productive in major college programs.

As a Virginia Tech alum I love Lee Suggs but I'm not sure he'll be great in the NFL. He's a little undersized and isn't the shiftiest guy in the world. I feel much the same about Mike Doss. Like Suggs he was a great college player but may not stack up against NFL competition.

If we're looking for a RB to develop behind Henry I'm hoping we throw our hat into the Willis McGahee lottery. Before his injury, WG was a bigger, faster, more productive version of Clinton Portis (last year's NFL rookie of the year). We wouldn't need him to contribute much right away and his upside is unreal.

D-line in first round. IF TD takes best player available it will be a d-lineman because there are so many good ones this year. Besides with rotating d-lineman you need to have as many good ones as possible.

Could not agree more about taking a shot at Magahee. Just like last year in round 2 when we where in dire need of a DT and we selected Josh Reed the same thing is going to happen this year in round one. There is going to be a player other than DL that will fall to us that TD will not be able to pass over. With all the hoopla about the DT spots is exactly why this will occur. I would'nt have a problem with us going DT at round one but the more of them that are picked in front of us the less likely that TD will go that route. Keep in mind that the salary cap cutting in the league is not over yet. We may still get a DT as a free agent. I think TD is going to hang onto some salary cap space waiting future cuts.

What's up TRUE BILLS Fans! I think that we need help at free safety and we should go with Mike Doss with a first pick and a DL with the second pick! That's if we sign Sam Adams. If not then we need to take a stong DL in the first round. Mike Doss is a Playmaker and he can come up and lay down a nice hit on anyone! Preliou is o.kay but I don't believe he is the future!

hey adporter, welcome.

I think we should take the BEST DT available for few reasons.

1) if Sam Adams signs, it would be nice to have depth and have the rookie learn under adams and williams

2) if Sam Adams doesn't sign, we obviously need someone to step in and fill the middle

3) If Sam Adams signs or not, he'll only have 2 years left in him, and Williams is in his last year of free agency. No gurantee he will come back after next year.

I would also like to see us trade our #2 and #4 or #5 to get up in the 2nd round, perhaps top 5, and pick a guy like Doss. I don't think he will be drafted in the first round, but I think he'll be there in the upper 2nd round. This guy has potential. He is a senior so he hes exprience and can HIT. His coverage skills are above average, not perfect, but better than Prioleau and Wire. He would add some nice speed and depth.

What do you guy's think about tradeing up with Chicago to get Kennedy? Before you blow this off hear me out. We seem to be really set as our roster is taking shape. What we lack is that big presence in the middle of the line. for the next couple of years we will be drafting in the latter part of the first round and getting someone like Kennedy will be out of reach. Kennedy is gonna be a player with force for a long time in this league. Just my 2 cents:

I think TD will go for a pass rushing DE specialist if we should sign Adams. With all of the DT's going before us, that will leave a top 3 DE for us to snag, someone like Cory Redding from Texas or the Haynes kidd from Penn State. I'm not saying this draftee would be a everydown player right off the bat, but how many rookies are? A DE rookie can be an impact player in his first year if used right. I look for him to come in on passing downs with some fresh legs and put some pressure on the opposing QB's, then in the years following, develop him into a good all around DE.

I think Lee Suggs might go to Tennessee at #28. As I've said elsewhere, Doss is a SS. TD is smart enough not to draft him because to do so would be to waste last years surprise, Coy Wire. Neither Doss or Wire is suited to FS. I'm hopeful that TD will get a DT. Wasn't Dokes a higher pick than #23? Or was it Walt Patulski who was a #1 pick. They were both lousy picks. However I don't think that it necessarily follows that any DT Buffalo could select will suck. Buffalo has one of the best scouting departments in the league and TD is a pretty shrewd judge of talent, last year's probable dud Ryan Denney not withstanding. I'm hopeful that someone like Kenny Peterson will end up as a Bill because of his versatility. He would be outstanding at either under tackle or left defensive end. We could use him in either spot right now, and if Buffalo signs a free agent DT we could still plug him in a LDE and get a huge upgrade over last year.

I have to agree with TigerJ when it comes to Peterson...Peterson intrigues me...Seems like he could be a very solid DT in the league one day with the guidance of big Pat and hopefully Sam...Anyways in the second round I would hope that TD would pick Torry Holt, Hamlin, or Mathis...I really think the Bills need some help at FS, and all of these guys could be our help...This is just my two cent worth...:beers:

I don't know if I like a tweener in Peterson to much, but I'd love to see us go FS in round two. I am not sold on PP as our FS.

I think the fact that there are so many DL prospects is more likely to incite runs at other positions, and NOT DL. There are comparatively few offensive weapons, so you might see runs at WR, RB or T...including some reaches...because teams would be thinking they might satisfy their DL needs in rds 2 or 3.

This might open the trap door for a stud to fall through to number 23. It's my opinion, and my hope, that a top 4 DE will slide through to us, garnering us a playmaker, and filling our last starting hole before we even reach round 2. (this presuming Adams is signed).

1)Sign Adams, and draft a project DT in rd 3 or 4.
2)Draft a havoc wreaking DE originally slated to go to 15 in rd 1
3)The rest of the draft and free agency period is depth depth depth. Which also equals competition. Its all good, like the kids say.

However, if all the solid DL prospects are gone, and TD takes the best player available, I won't be shocked or incredulous. With his record, he could draft a kicker in round one, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt that it's a genius move.

I think the Bills would be better served signing a quality FS in FA over drafting one in the 2nd round. Experience matters. With Wire at SS, a good veteran FS would be just the ticket.

If the Bills had a vet SS, then by all means draft a FS. But a SS (1 yr vet) and a FS (rookie) is a recipe for disaster. We need help at FS. A 2nd rdr would be expected to come in and compete for the starting job - start by mid-season.

I like Hamlin, but I don't think the Bills can afford to play him right now.

I think Bills would like to wrap up free agent signings before the draft. They could wait until after June 1 but I think they will have an excellent idea of what they need in the draft and proceed accordingly. Peterson is intriguing because he can play DE or DT. But couldnt Edwards be used that way? If Adams signs I look for the best available ) on TD's board)DE or FS to be Bills' first and second picks.

Do not, and I could be setting myself up to be shnookered by TD, rule out TD taking W. Maghee if he's on the board in round 2. I don't want to think about it, but, Travis is gonna be up for another contract here in 2 years I believe. When Travis is ready for a contract, Maghee will be ready to step into any team in 2 years to be the no. 1 man.
