Some interpretation from the cockney. They have a phrase that rhymes with the word they want to replace, then they abbreviate the phrase so that it no longer rhymes, and hence confuses everyone.

For STAIRS they would use the phrase APPLES AND PEARS. But they would abbreviate this to APPLES. Hence apples replaces stairs.

battle, noun

battle cruiser = boozer, pub. Cockney Rhyming Slang. (This place is quite a good battle.)


boracic, adj.

boracic lint=skint, broke. Cockney Rhyming Slang. (Sorry mate, I'm completely borassic.)


bottle, noun

bottle and glass=ass. Cockney Rhyming Slang


brahms, adj.

Brahms and Liszt=pissed, drunk. Cockney Rhyming Slang. (Your china got right brahms the other night.)
