looks like the zhitnik trade could get done:

"There was nothing to the Satan trade," stated Regier. "Bob Clarke (Flyers GM) camae to me about it. I told him there was nothing to it.
"I believe it came from some writer in Philly."
Could the Sabres be making any deals before the trading deadline?
"I think the teams that are seriously looking are those in the upper third of the League right now," said Regier. "They've got an opportunity to take a run at things. Those are the teams that you're going to talk to.
"I think there is the possibility that we could make a deal or two over the next few weeks. We're not frozen.
"I stay in touch with the League offices (who currently operate the Sabres) quite often. They've been great to work with."
As for any trades coming up, Regier admits that trading a player like Satan would be unlikely. But trading a defenseman (the team carries seven), could be a possibility.
"That would be more likely to happen," commented Regier.
The logical defenseman that could be dealt would be Alexei Zhitnik, who carries a $3.3 million price tag. He has been a disappointment to the team offensively, scoring just two goals in two seasons.
Regier also admitted that he could have made a couple of other deals during the season. But at the last minute they fell apart.
Even the players have to be wondering what has been going on with the front office. While other teams just a few places above them have made deals, nothing has happened with the Sabres.
