Jim wrote this to me about Rick after I flooded his Email box with like 1- 200 emails yesterday after hearing about this. :deal:

Jim writes:

Jennifer,

Rick said he would consider retiring not that he would. If the team is back he'll be back.
Jim

Yes we all understand this but I explained to him that all we need now is to hear this sad news rather he is or isn't on top of everything thats going on. :slice:
Rather he is or isn't ... just the fact that hes even thinking of it .. hurts rather bad.

I will be continuing to flood them out as well as sendning him that poll thread when it gets alil more votes. We as fans can't back down. We have done too much of that already and mostly its not comming from us fans... its comming from others. So i will continue to lead us all in strong pleading our cases. I hope that you all will try to do the same. I would really like to see us and the team come out of this clean.
Take care everyone and cross your fingers.
Have a great day :)

Jim Lorentz. I send all Emails to him to give to Rick b/c they go everywhere together. Share same hotel too. I believe Jim has a laptop. But trust me... word is out about Rick everywhere and Sabreschick is not letting Rick or even Jim go without a fight!!! ;)
Jim knows me and hes probly roll'n his eyes right now. (LOL)
If you wanna send Rick or Jim email....... send to :

Broadcastbooth@sabreshockey.com

I got other hockey fans emailing them about this. They love to watch games with Rick and Jim. A Vancouver fan said that everytime his team plays the Sabres..... he tunes into Rick and Jim. LOL
I know a Philly fan and a leafs fan and 4 Colorado fans who say same thing!!!
All and all tho'... i don't blame them if they want to drop the microphone and call it quit's. 30 years is a long time to deal with a team thats never seen a Stanley Cup. But at same time.... 30 years is enough to have thousands of angry fans after them ;)

Have a great day:)

Hey... Sabres ... Start Rock'n and move with the beats. :sabres:

My letter:

Dear Rick / Jim:

I've been a Sabres fan since the early 1980s, despite growing up in Alberta. When I first moved to Toronto, I can't tell you the countless fans that, after I told them I was a Sabres fan, responded with "Lalalalalalafontaine" or some other Jeanerette call. At the time, I was unaware that the Sabres games (at the time) were available on WGR55, so I had no idea what the hell they were talking about.

After discovering WGR55, I was able to get Sabres broadcasts - which were most of my contact with the Sabres, as telecasts of the Sabres were rare. I enjoyed every minute. Later on, Pete Weber filled in for you on the radio with Danny Gare, as you moved on to the TV side (long overdue, I might add). Now, Pete and Danny weren't bad, and they improved greatly throughout the end of the season. But, unlike most Sabres fans who had access to Empire at the time, I lost my contact with you calling the games. I genuinely felt sorrow about this, because you add so much to the broadcast. So I know what it's like losing you, because it already happened to me once. And I didn't like it.

When the radio simulcast replaced the separate radio and TV feeds, I was ecstatic. I was also pleased with Jim, who I had never heard before. You guys are a perfect compliment to one another in the booth.

I realize that nothing is forever and that retirement calls away everyone at some point. But it sounded from the Buffalo News that the choice of whether to retire was made because the HSBC Arena was a morgue. It currently is a morgue - the one game (I live in Bermuda) I went to see this year (Boston/Buffalo) emphasized that point. However, I believe this to be a temporary situation. There are several events that may keep the fans away which makes work less fun. I can understand that, and your feeling that work isn't fun anymore. But I am an optimist. Once ownership is resolved - and given the lack of suitors and the unlikeliness of the Sabres folding, I believe it will be - the Paychex Arena (or whatever) will once again have the same excitement it has usually had.

I know you haven't decided to retire Rick, but please don't even think about considering retirement!

aww... i was tearing... Thank you all for the Rick and Jim support. They are too "The apple of my eye " as far as Watching a Sabres game. They bring so much to the game that the players and fans can't bring. In fact... noone can bring what the rickster and jimster bring to the game. Its incrediable.
Jim wrote me back yet... once again and basicaly said that ..
If the Sabres stay in Buffalo... witch will probly happen.... they will be staying too. :);)
I don't even think Jim and Rick know what its like for us fans through all of this let alone hearing news that Rick is "considering" retirment. It's like a loaded gun. Only fires when someone presses the trigger. Each bullet brings more blood. One second is time consuming to us... never ending...
Anyhow... I am pretty sure he'll ...actully both will stay awhile. I am just more sad to hear this news now b/c of everything going on. It's not like the Sabres are the best team with no problems what so ever and then out of the blue Rick wants to quit. Its not even close. I just feel right now would not be a good time for him to walk away from it all. Its not an exciting time and the fans need them more then ever at this point.

Well.. keep the emails roll'n and hope those sabres keep pull'n.
(LOL)

have a great day everyone ;)

I agree with you. The fans DO need them more than ever at this point in what will soon be just a bad period in Sabres history.

I pray for the day that Rick and Jim are still here in a few years, and whoever the Sabres Captain is at the time lifts the Stanley Cup over his head.

Of course, one of the bigger TV corporations will have the rights to the broadcast.....But those two have been a part of the Sabres organization for so long, they deserve to be part of the crew when we win it all.
