I bet alot of you americans didnt know this. But we have communist like laws when it comes to tv. We have a 'heritage minister' by the name of sheila copps.

Some channels are outlawed in canada because they are, in Mrs Copps opinion, not 'canadian enough'.

This has given rise to an underground market in directv satellites. people go the usa, buy the receiver, bring it back to canada and program it.

We get every single channel for free, they call it a 'wide open card'. It costs about 20 dollars to program it for 3 months. Its a huge underground industry.

There is a canadian distributor of sateilite TV called bellexpressvu. Its possibly the worst sateilite program you have ever seen. Everyone knows this except for our communist minister sheila copps.

Anyways, so many people in canada were watching american tv, that bellexpressvu launched a lawsuit to make owning a directv system illeagal. As it was, it wasnt illeagal to hack it, it was in the 'gray' area of the law.

Basically bell argued that they have the rights to distribution and all directv systems should be stopped. Others argued people turned to directv, because our communication laws are unconstitutional because they regulate what we can watch.

Bell was mad because they were losing money, or so they claimed. In reality, no one was going to buy it because it sucked and no one was watching. Bell even wanted the RCMP to go to everyones houses to take the systems down. however, the RCMP wouldnt do it, saying it was a waste of time and they are not the 'TV police'.

Bell was furious, they took it to court, won a battle (but not the war) and now the RCMP and bell have launched an assault on peoples homes.

I heard that the radio stations have to play like every third or fifth song by a Canadian artist, is this true?
