I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of having all of these stadiums renamed for a corporate sponsor that wants to smear it's logo feces all over the world of sports.

Now, I'm not a White Sox Fan, I'm a Cubs fan. But, the stadium was named after Owner Charles A. Comiskey. How do you take an honor given to someone away? It'd be like them in 20 years, renaming Ralph Wilson Stadium to some absurd name becaue a company wants to shell out some money.

Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportiaon, but just wait until some WNBA team renames their stadium the "Stay-Free Panty Liners Center." If the WNBA thinks they have attendance problems now, a move like that would assure that no man would ever go into the building.

You do that Ralph Wilson Stadium was built as Rich (as in Rich foods) Stadium right?

Yes, I know that, but it was renamed in FAVOR of honoring a person, which I sure that Rich foods had no problem with, or perhaps even suggested. It's difficult to believe that the Comiskey family is happy about having an honor that was given to one of their ancestors taken away in favor of money. Selling out to the corporate sponsors is what gets to me.

According the the article posted on majorleaguebaseball.com, the stadium was renamed and the money paid to rename the stadium was going to "rennovations." Now, the new "Comiskey Park" opened in 1991. I've been to the stadium and, even though I wasn't fond of it, there was no need for any type of rennovatons. What they of course, are meaning when they say "rennovations" is adding the luxury boxes and corporate suites that professional sports teams seem to think they need. To sell the rights to a stadium name for that purpose, is absurd, IMO.

One further note on this: It's not like the White Sox are such a great team that they feel the need to attract corporate members. Yankee Stadium has stood for years without any adding of Luxury Seating to my knowledge. Also, Wrigley Field has stood for nearly 100 years, and, while they have rennovated the stadium slightly, and are discussing doing even more, there is no talk of changing the name of the ballpark.
