MLB All Star Game

I heard that Bud was thinking about having the winner of the All Star game get home field in the world series. I love the idea, it would be great for a All Star game actually mean something. Now all Bud has to do is not have it end in a tie. What do you guys think about this?

This is my problem with it:

Say you are the manager of the Giants, who will be managing in this years All-Star Game... Randy Johnson is your starting pitcher... Now, he's the #1 guy for a team in your division. As manager of the Giants, you -could- have Johnson pitch a junkload of innings, just to try to win the ballgame, while at the same time, weakening a player you might have to face for the right to go to that Series later in the year.

Why not just have the team that has the best record in baseball get HomeField?? That's how every other sport does it.
