View Full Version : Is Miller the new #1 or is he being showcased?

Miller has played fairly well. 3 pts in 2 games. And he is playing again tonight. Has he taken the #1 spot. Or is he being showcased for a big trade.

Considering that the decision came from the top (ie Darcy Regier) to bring Miller up, it could be to showcase him. But I personally don't think they want to trade Miller.

We only have to pray for Lindy, not to use him too much. Miller and Biron seems very well, but Ruff has to be careful not to burn out them...

Our record in Miller games:

3-0-0-2 (8 out of 10 points)

I hope he's the #1. He's so calm, has very fluid motion and is constantly squaring off the angles.

I honestly dont think they want to trade Miller and I certainly hope they dont! If anything, theyre probably thinking of trading Biron or Mika. Id get rid of Mika. Theres no way all 3 of them could co-exist on this team and in Rochester IMO.

They wouldn't get anything at this point for Biron or Norenen. If they have trades in mind, I'm sure their hoping Biron will rise to the challenge and the sabres have the luxery of a goalie controversy.

I think one of them is in line for a trade, who I'm not sure.

I like Miller's style, but one thing that concerns me is his "fluid motion". Sabrejeff, you refered to it earlier. I think that his mobility is great, but it's somewhat uncontrolled, would you agree? When he moves from one side to another, he sometimes overcommitts, which could be trouble. I'm sure he'll get it under control though.

Since Biron can't go to Rochester, he'd be the odd man out if Miller takes the job. It wouldn't be long before Marty was asking for a trade.

Well Miller will get you the most value on a trade, Mika the least. Which team needs a quality backup?

I think it's more like who's having goal-tending problems and willing to take a chance on Biron. Perhaps it won't happen until the off-season, But Biron's not done in this league as a #1, and if he doesn't re-establish himself in Buffalo, perhaps a team in need may take a shot.

I agree jj@jj.com! Just because he's stuggled this season, doesn't mean he's not a number one. He had very solid numbers last season considering his slow start.

He'll definately be a #1 again!

The Sabres wouldn't move Miller over the summer at the draft, and there is no way his performance now leads to a deal unless it is for a Jason Spezza type young potential superstar.

I think they are just seeing where things are at and trying to win a few games. If Miller returns to earth and the Sabres lose a few games with him in net, then they'll return him to Rochester and go back to riding Marty.

Mika will get dealt at the draft.

I can't see it happening before then either. Regeir is going to have to give Mika some time to work through his problems, either in rochester or buffalo, and in March, presumably Regeir will be shopping Satan, Brown, Gratton to playoff teams. No one's looking for a project then.

I still think that if Miller plays well, he will stay and Biron will go.

If they traded Miller, my 30 years of supporting the Sabres would cease to exist any longer. Mika or Biron would be traded alot sooner.

If (hypothetically) they really did have a trade in mind for Miller, he would be worth infinitely more in trade value after a couple years in this league.

It's Miller Time baby!!!

keep both Miller and Biron.... Don't pick one as a #1 untill you keep rotating them to see witch one will do best as first.
I can see it in Millers eyes. Thats why I like them. Hes got this VERY confident look to him. Biron has a look where hes STILL not sure of himself. It causes him to mess up. I think Biron thinks too much while in net instead of keeping a clear, focused mind. Yet, is clear enough to keep him in Buffalo along with Miller. Both our outstanding and I don't see any reason why either one of them can't stay in the NHL!!!~ They are both soild, consistent effort goalies. Would be excited whenever they were in net. Also... They keep the game so its always exciting. You don't get bored watching them.... b/c you know they have to try EXTRA hard to keep the puck out. Unlike while watching a good NHL goalie... it tends to sometimes get boring knowing they WILL ALWAYS make those key saves. So... keep the both.... and may their be the most exciting games yet to watch. GO SABRES!!!~

"This team ain't big enough for the both of us" would be the problem. It wouldn't do either of this guys any good sitting on the bench. This would resemble the current problem way too much.

Well... as a Sabres fan I'm not about to pick. I love them both!!!~
If one leaves... I will be very upset!!! We need 2 solid goalies!!!
Why can't we keep em'???

Sorry to all of the huge Biron fans, but if this management is ready to hand the starting job to Miller (which they're not), then you have to trade Biron. He would get the most return in a trade, Noronen could play backup, and you could give him 25 games next season. See if he can develope a bit more. This would be the best case scenario, but only if they are ready to turn to Miller, and he is ready to take the job and run with it....Err skate with it.

Exactly. You will not get anything for Noronen, who has no track record. Biron has a wonderful track record prior to this year.

Deal Biron and let Miller and Noronen fight it out.

Biron's price tag and inability to be sent to the minors makes him less attractive to other teams as well. Add in his poor play this year and you aren't going to have teams falling over themselves to get Marty.

If you are going to deal Biron the best idea would be to wait until the draft and try and deal him to LA. Potvin is an UFA this summer and the Kings have two 1st rounders, there pick and Colorado's pick from the Rob Blake deal. But LA can't add Biron now as Jamie Storr can't go down to make room on the roster.

I would think Storr could make a good case to be the #1 there.
