(Only currently still playing in the NHL)

Mogilny.. the man can score and that's what we could use.
He's talented and is dangerous short handed as well.. I want him back!!!!

Andreychuk. Yes,he is getting up there, but hes still good. We could use more bodies in front of the net and on the PP. Plus hes my personal fav.:D

Don't hate me for this: Barnaby!
Glen Sather has said lately, that he is one of the only players he wouldn't trade and that he is playing his best hockey right now.

Probably Turgeon, although I didn't vote for him. I had to vote for May :-) He's my all time favorite Sabre. But the reason I would take Turgeon over Mogilny is because of how Mogilny just flat out gave up on this team before he got traded. He'd come in on a breakaway and just and take the most feeble shot he could. He was trying to get denied. You could tell he didn't care, you could tell he was doing it on purpose. He wanted out of Buffalo. I wouldn't want him back.

Hasek, Hasek, Hasek, and Hasek.
I hated the guy, but he was awesome in net.

Keyword.. CURRENTLY playing JB.. lol!!
I don't like Hasek.. never did and never will.. I much prefer the fresh faces in net like Miller and Biron.. young guys with tons of upside.. making things happen..
If they get any support (ie. solid offense and defense).. maybe they'll just conquer the NHL.. our defense isn't playing the same way they did when Hasek was around and that's making it harder for our young guys in net.. they'll break out eventually though..
We just need a guy that can break open a hockey game and score that one goal that we need!

Well, that was a really tough decision... I went with my desire to actually WIN... Alex Mogilny... the boy can score... There are a few on the list I would want back for various other reasons though...

Actually two:
1} Matt Barnaby because he was tough and {unlike some others}
didn't kiss Hasek's a$$, and
2} Not listed, but J-L Grand-Pierre; people ridiculed me for
suggesting if the CBJ were interested in trading for Gratton,
I'd want him back, saying "our defense is fine." Well, our d
ain't "fine" anymore, is it?

I think GP plays some forward in Columbus. I don't think he's the "answer" for this D.

Well, if I can't have Hasek, then I have to say Peca. This team is softer than a whole package of Charmin.
And Mogilny is way beyond the point in his career that he can be counted on to be a consistent offensive force in this league, especially with the centers he'd get to play with in Buffalo.

And why isn't Bob Boughner on the list. I'd take him over a bunch of the other guys that are up there.

I picked Peca....but nobody picks Sanderson? I guess being 9th in the NHL with 20 goals isn't something this high-scoring team needs right now
Of course, he can't score 20 goals as a healthy scratch, and maybe dumb Lindy could use him on the power play once in a while...

Sanderson would only be worth bringing back if the Sabres were the ones that signed Cassells as a FA.
How many times did people say that getting Cassells would ignite Sanderson's goal scoring ability, yet the GM never got it done?

I always doubted this. I have a problem with players that need a specific center or winger to succeed. Yet, in Sanderson's case (and Cassel's case, FWIW), that does seem to be the case. It seems I was actually wrong in this case.

The top three Sabres I'd like to see back here are:
Peca
Tkachuk
Sarich

I don't think that Cassells and Sanderson would be a good fit in any system where they have to be somewhat responsible defensively. So while they might add offense, I think that Ruff would have a coronary dealing with them.

He really wasn't.
During the 1990 Draft,...
The Sabres traded Phil Housley, Scott Arniel, Jeff Parker and our 90 1st round pick (Winnipeg selected Keith Tkachuk) to the Jets in exchange for Dale Hawerchuk and their 90 1st round pick (Buffalo selected Brad May).

I picked Peca too, but what boggles my mind is how many people picked Mogilny - especially when Sanderson is outscoring him. Mogilny is nothing more than his goals and collecting a paycheck. Say what you want about Hasek dissing Buffalo, but he set up Hasek's Heroes (and has actually financed it and continued to support), even knowing that he was going elsewhere. Mogilny dissed Buffalo and is a soft player who Jason Woolley outscores in the playoffs, and people want him back?
As far as the Ruff comment, note that Maclean would hire Ruff in a second to coach Sanderson if he was available.

Your darn right I'd want Hasek. He's better than anyone else the Sabres have to play in goal right now.
And Daze is a big goalscorer that is highly underrated because he doesn't play an overly physical game. He reminds me a lot of Andreychuk.

He wants Ruff to coach the entire team. Not just Sanderson whom he misused in Buffalo.

Sanderson's nothing w/o cassels. This guys been toiling ever since we traded him and finally scores a couple of goals where he doesn't have share ice time.
Big deal.

The first statement is true. What is the basis of the second statement? When Sanderson first got here, he floated, and Ruff moved him down to the fourth line.
Our lines during 1998/9 were:
Ward / Peca / Varada
Grosek / Brown / Satan
Juneau / Barnes / Sanderson
Holzinger / Primeau / Ray
Where should Sanderson have played? Nobody can convince me that Ward / Peca / Varada should have been broken up. Would you have played Sanderson ahead of Satan or Grosek? I wouldn't have, until Satan got injured against Boston.
Sanderson was on pace for his average year in Buffalo last year in Columbus. He did the same in Carolina and Vancouver.
However, all of Sanderson's seasons where he's scored more than 30 goals have one thing in common: Andrew Cassels.

Ummm, Sanderson plays LW, not RW.
Personally, I would have him on a line with Satan and Brown at the time.

You gotta go with Mogilny.
The way he is playing and has played the last couple of years,he has been dynamite in Toronto.
I never wanted the guy to leave in the first place,he was my fav Sabre at the time.
But if I could bring back one guy who is retired it would be Lafontaine.
No explanation needed here.
