Am i the only one who didn't like lord of the rings the two towers? it was soooo slow and the whole 3 hours led towards the one battle...it wasn't filled with much suspense unless fighting was involved, and the movie focuses more on the journey than the fighting. i am extremely dissapointed. legolas kicked @$$ though as always. hopefully the next movie will be better.

aragon was part of the fellowship from the first movie. the trees were part of a forest and when they saw that the evil wizard burnt and chopped down their fellow trees, they wanted revenge. i just thought the movie could have been made probably around 2 hours instead of 3.

If you don't like fantasy in the first place -- my guess regarding BT, you obviously aren't going to be a fan of the movie. With some caveats, I think The Two Towers is a spectacular film. It's darker, but also deeper than the earlier Fellowship. If you're only looking for combat action, then naturally, you find the build up to the battle at Helm's Deep tedious. The thematic center, Sauron's desire to extinguish the race of men from the earth, is clarified in this film. Smeagol/Gollum is the best CGI yet, a very compelling presence. Naturally, it suffers a bit for being the middle part of a trilogy, but I don't think anyone has done a film like this before and I think the epic as a whole will be considered a classic by most critics and should be.

Personally, I thought the film was great and I enjoyed it. Not as much as I enjoyed the Extended version of "Fellowship" but I still enjoyed it and would sit though it again.

I haven't seen the extended version. I assume that is only available on DVD? Don't suppose they managed to film a Tom Bombadil sequence?

I heard Two Towers varies a lot from the book, unlike the first movie.

It does. A lot has been compressed and altered, but some of that is necessary. It's a three hour film as it is. The departure I found most disagreeable was that the character of Faramir was changed to be more like his brother. The point in the book was that he was courteous where Boromir is irrascible, making him a much better consolation prize for Eowen.

I totally agree with your assessment of Faramir. I know they need to change some parts from the book but there was no need to change Faramir’s character. I was disgusted with that part of the movie’s plot. Overall I loved the movie and thought it was much better then the Fellowship. The other parts I could not stand were Gimli’s comedic sequences. In my opinion they lessened his warrior status; making him inferior to his companions Legalos and Aragorn.

I heard the worst part was where a character (I forget the name), slid on his shield like a skateboard while simultaneously shooting his bow & arrow.

I know that junk wasn't in the book...

Legolas "surfed" while he was fighting. I guess that was for the younger generations benifit.

No kidding, that must have been thrown in there for 5 year olds.

I would have been sick to my stomach had I seen something that lame.

Were they trying to mimick that other awful movie, Extreme Ops?

actually, watching legolas and his spontaneous 'tricks' (he had a couple) were fascinating

Don't knock the scene until you see it at the theatre. It sounds bad but comes across well on the big screen.
