Ok ok....this is a thread that deserves a million responses, now that RJ is starting i have to admit, im gonna flip in and out to see how RJ plays. Now, i hope he doesnt get injured but id love to see the 'curse' ruin his team. i dont want tampa bay making the playoffs, we might meet them in the superbowl, better to take them out of playoff contention now....anyways heres my prediction for RJ
14 of 28 for 187yards no td's, 2int, 2fumbles lost, sacked 7 times.

HAHAHA! Sounds about right!....Rj is RJ no matter where he plays to bad the Buffalo Coaching staff never realized that....They shouldve stuck with Flutie.....

I know they should have, sometimes buffalo fans are way too stubborn to realize the truth. he stunk so much, and did u see that philly game b4 BJ got hurt? the eagles were just smashing through the tamba bAy O-line.......... poor RJ.

Its almost as if he has a sign that says "Sack Me!" ...maybe they should put that on the back of his Jersey instead of Johnson.

why did they ever demote shaun king, i remember he led them to a 10-6 record and one playoff win. That wasnt so bad, he'd prolly be real good by now if he had been playing all this time. I know King is better than RJ.

One more thing that i just cant understand.......It seems that EVERY COACH likes him.
like what the hell kinda charm spell does he put on these guys?

ya I agree...King is better than RJ by a longshot....maybe hes one of those guys Matt Millen was talking about, maybe hes a cowardly bucc! Pretender in Practice, non-contender on the field...cuz really, Ive never seen him do anything specail..ever! I must be missing something.

he looks good in practice. He has all the physical tools you need, he's just a dumb guy. Out surfing, smoking too much weed (if there is such a thing.) I'd like to see him do well, because he seemed to try his hardest for this team, just that he sucked.

Getting rid of Flutie was the best decision for the team. I project that Rob will play well, as he did for much of his tenure in Buffalo. People like to re-write history, but he was a 61% passer, with a good TD to int ratio, and this fumbling nonsense is just that. Rob was very careful with the ball.
A bad leader, and way too many sacks, but hey, every QB has faults and Rob didn't deserve half of the crap that he got from the no mind fans who fell in love with some half pint midget who lost 9 in a row last year (and hasn't played a single down this year).
I think Rob will complete 60% of his passes, go for about 240 yds, 2 TDs, no picks, and will get sacked 3 times. He'll run for 40+ yds, and probably take one too many hits as usual. And the Bucs will win 20-3.

Yeah that makes sense fin... Jon Gruden, who could care less who makes plays for him (he sits Alstott, the local matinee idol ala flutie... he doesn't care) decided that Rob is the backup and now the starter. Of course, a group of addle minded fans, who DON'T go to practices, and for the most part don't watch the games decide that Shaun King is the better player. That makes alot of sense. I guess the scenario is that Gruden likes Rob so much that he would rather risk losing a game and screwing up the season just to spite Shaun. Sheer Genius..
King sucks. A team with the best defense in the NFL for 1999 and 2000 couldn't score any points in the playoffs behind the little pudge ball King. The guy is about as accurate as a $3 watch, has no speed, can't run, and has poor work habits. But he's better than Rob.
What a joke.

To sum it all up: Rob Johnson had all the tools but no toolbox. He has all the skill and talent in the world, if you asked him to do something in practice then he would do it better than most of the QB's in the league. But the bottom line is that during the game he just can't get it done, he can't bring all his talent together.

i think rob plays well today and tampa will win. i've been hearing from down in tampa that if rj plays well and continues to do so he will stay in even after brad johnson is healthy. talk about an oppertunity for rj today. with all that happened with flutie it looks like it is coming around full circle for rj.

well i wouldnt be surprised if he did awesome, became the starter then created a QB controversy, ran BJ out of town then stunk it up for TB.
thats the RJ legacy!

22 for 33, 1 int, no TDs, 1 lost fumble, and he got injured
very rob johnson like numbers.

October 27th, 2002, 4:58:23 PM
The box score I just saw did not have a lost fumble.
But Carolina had 6 sacks - I would guess most of them were on RJ
John
October 27th, 2002, 5:09:23 PM
He was sacked all 6 times - and also ran 4 times for 17 yards.
179 yards passing, before subtracting yards lost on the sacks

It's hard to NOT say "I told you so" when it comes to Rob Johnson. It's like telling someone a stove is hot and then they have to go ahead and touch it anyway. Some people just won't believe it until they smell their own burning flesh. The guy sucks. We told you so.
I also find it interesting that no one can defend RJ without mentioning Flutie. They seem to think that the fact that Flutie isn't any good either somehow enhances Johnson's numbers. "Let's see 6 sacks, no TD's, and INT and get's knocked out of the game...ah yes but Flutie is riding the pine in San Diego so Rob's actually pretty good." It's pretty sad when the only case you can make for a guy is that he's doing marginally better than an over-the-hill bench warmer on another team!
Gruden should just cut his losses and leave King in until Brad Johnson comes back. Chalk RJ up as a failed experiment, like the Bills did, and move on.

You're right. But you didn't give me credit for calling it. I said he would get six sacks and get injured. Geesh.
