RICHMOND, Virginia (CNN) -- Police converged on a gas station Monday morning where a white minivan was parked at a phone booth and took one person into custody. The incident follows the shooting of a 37-year-old man Saturday night in nearby Ashland that investigators suspect may be linked to the Washington-area sniper attacks.

So if you are going to be a sniper and decide you want to kill some people...why not try for drug dealers and gang members, rather than common folk and kids...at least kill the dregs of society...

I'll be surprised if it is the sniper.

We can hope it's the sniper, but if it is not, he will shoot someone while these guys are in custody just to prove it's not him.

Unfortunately, BironsGirl, another person was shot this morning around 6am. :( The sniper is back in Montgomery County. The police was quick to respond and shut down roads and set up road blocks, but 3+ hours later, they still don't have the guy. :(
It's getting extremely upsetting and frustrating to be in this area. I just pray that they catch this guy soon.

He's not leaving the area. That's why the road blocks aren't working. That or he's leaving via air or off-road routes.
Or he's a cop, who blends in as soon as the road blocks are up.

I'm convinced he knows exactly where and when he's going to strike. I think he picks his spot a few days in advance and then maps out several escape routes so he's not caught.
I don't know what's worse. Thinking he's leaving the area and the road blocks aren't working OR thinking he's staying in the area, hiding out right under the cops noses.
It never even crossed my mind he was an active police officer, Stealth. I always figured he was retired police or military. That's a real scary thought, Stealth.

Thanks, BironsGirl. :) Yeah, I live in Montgomery County where a bulk of his shootings have been. He really is terrorizing the DC metropolitan area. Life as we know it is slowly coming to a standstill. The fact that he keeps eluding the police is very unsettling. And he's all over the board. We never know when and where he's going to turn up.
