Bush tars drug takers with aiding terrorists
Mandatory jail makes a drugs Gulag

The Guardian
The US government is stepping up its attempt to link the war on drugs and the war on terrorism.
Its office of national drug control policy is running advertisements which tell Americans that by buying drugs they may be financing terrorists - "whether you're shooting heroin, snorting cocaine, taking Ecstasy or sharing a joint in your friend's back yard".
President Bush has declared: "If you quit drugs, you join the fight against terror in America."
This sounds like a job for TIPS!

The billions of dollars that go into the black market marajuana industry could be taxed just like alcohol and cigs and practically eliminate the national debt in just a few years. Does anyone realize that NYS spends more money on prosecuting and incarcerating marajuana offenders than any other state.....for a substance that impares you no more than alcohol. The main reason marajuana will never be legalized is there is no way of instantly knowing if someone in intoxicated by it while operating a motor vehicle. Once the Potalizer is invented, it will open the door for legalization.

I just like the experimentation part of science....lol To be serious though....there is currently some development being done on roadside drug testing. I recently saw a story on my local news where a local department is testing a roadside kit. The problem with the raodside kit is there is no way of knowing if they were intoxicated at the time the test was done due to the length of time it stays in your blood. There has to be a way to prove someone has smoked within a few hours or so....I will not rest until this is found. This is my mission.LOL

Now we need to invent something to check if people have had sex in the last hour, as it might affect their ability to drive a motor vehicle.

I think those of you who are against marajuana probably have never tried it, or tried it once or twice. I agree that some people can **ck up their lives with it...I have seen it happen...but how many of you have seen people **ck up their lives with alcohol? I have seen many, many more screw up their lives with alcohol than pot. An addict is an addict....wether it be alcohol, pot or whatever, if someone has an addictive personality, they will find their 'drug of choice'. At one time I did smoke the stuff(might as well admit that, im never gonna run for president..lol).....being an insurance agent, my job can be lost due to it...so its not worth the risk of losing my job....but, if it were to be made legal...you becha I would do it again. It's funny this topic came up yesterday..the largest police organization in Arizona just voted to legalize marajuana. It will be placed on the November ballot in that state. The news story I saw on CNN said their reasoning is a financial one. Due to the extrordinary amount of time and money spent each year on arrests, the organization voted to legalize it and have it taxed just like tobacco and alcohol. Now if NY spends more money than any other state on enforcing marajuana laws, how much can NY save or make doing the same thing? Just a thought.

I did not see the Arizona report, but I know there are many places considering decrimilizing dope rather than legalizing it.
d1220
August 9th, 2002, 9:38:49 AM
I don't agree with decriminalizing it. There would be less financial benefits to just decriminalizing it. In order for it to be taxed, it would have to be legalized. I'm willing to wait for full legalization.lol Oh, and if anyone is interested, the Arizona report should be on CNN's webiste.

I'm addicted to the Bills. They're already legalized, taxed (out the a-hole) and you can drive after watching them.
Never tried pot. Coacaine. Heroine. None of that. Alcohol is the only drug I have ever used, and while I was addicted to it for awhile, I managed to break that addiction. So I'm not in a position to comment on drug use and its legalization or lack thereof. I think, though, that people are concerned that legalization of a relatively benign drug like Mary Jane would lead to legalization of the more dangerous ones like Ecstacy, Crack, etc.
As far as drinking at the games, I know I won't be drinking (much) at the Denver game. I have to drive home AND will have my sons in the car. Besides -- if Rick's around, I probably need to be sober. I've seen him intoxicated....

And somehow that gives you the impression I don't have sex?
This makes me concerned for your career as an author, Chris. Do your characters have any depth or complexity, or do you just deal in stereotypes.
You know, big tough rugged individualists with guns = heterosexual or..
Little wimpy nerds who abhor violence = gay or at least asexual.
You see, I'm not exactly sure what sort of exposure you get to the real world in your life. I've done a lot of work with the military over the years and found they're not what I'd call the most rounded of individuals. But that's not unexpected coming from an organisation that bottom line may have to require it's members to fight and die. (And as an aside, you'd be surprised how many of those guys ask me if I've ever been in the military myself).
Do you remember when billswacko went off on me for posting Cassandra's warning to the Trojans? He started with the "i bet you got beat up a lot in school" smack.
I described who I was exactly.
You can look it up.
He didn't believe me. You may not either.
But i'd be willing to bet anything that I've lived a wilder and more exotic life than anybody on this board. That's why I'm a liberal.
It's people that are frightened by life and other people that wind up being conservative.

Chris
I'M KIDDING TOO! Sheesh.
A small story about my life.
A couple years ago I was asked to work on a film in Montreal called "One Eyed King". It was a New York story about a group of friens that grow up in the Irish mob and how all except Billy Baldwin come to no good. As well as Billy, it had Jason Gedrick, Armand Assante, Chas Palmintieri, Leo Rossi, Jim Breuer, colin Quinn and a number of other NY actors in it. Sounded interesting.
But when I started working on it, it soon became apparent that the producers were scumbags who kept pulling all sorts of stupid crap on everyone till it became evident they weren't serious about making a film, but were interested in pulling a bunch of financial shenanigans. These guys were nasty, nasty, nasty ( I had my car stolen 3 days after I got there and I always thought they did it). Anyway, the only guy they seemed to be afraid of was the executive producer from New York, a guy named Jules Nasso. Well he came up for a couple of days and sure enough he was an unpleasant and arrogant little goombah.
Anyway, I fought hard enough to make a respectable film that they wound up firing me and i thankfully made my way home, secure in the knowledge the film would never see the light of day.
So this morning I'm reading my paper and here's what I find....
Seagal; I'm no wiseguy
Bangkok (AP) Aug 9
Action star Steven Seagal yesterday became angry with a reporter who asked him about his tangles with the Mafia.
Seagal was doing pre-production on the movie "Belly Of The Beast", set to begin filming here in November.
Seagal lost his cool when asked about a dispute with former business partner, Jules Nasso, who has sued Seagal for $60 million US, accusing him of backing out of a contract.
"Everybody knows who I am, everybody knows who he is. It's no secret."
Nasso was arrested and charged with extortion in league with 16 members of the Gambino organised crime group. The case made headlines in June when federal prosecutors in New York said they'd taped Nasso and a Gambino gang leader allegedly plotting the shakedown of Seagal. Nasso has pleaded innocent to extortion.
So I looked on the web and I also found this.....

Steven Seagal Target of Alleged Extortion Plot
By City News Service
LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2002 -- Action film star Steven Seagal appears to have been the target of an alleged extortion plot involving a former business associate of the actor, it was reported today.
Julius "Jules'' R. Nasso was arrested in New York yesterday, accused of taking part in an alleged plot by the Gambino crime family to extort money from a Hollywood film figure, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Nasso, 49, of Staten Island, reportedly was charged with two counts--conspiracy to commit extortion and attempted extortion of a figure in the motion picture industry.
Also named in a 68-count federal indictment was the crime family's acting boss, Peter Gotti, brother of imprisoned John Gotti, known as the "Dapper Don.''
In all, 17 people were named in the indictment.
Prosecutors did not identify the target of the alleged extortion plot, but Nasso's lawyer was quoted as saying, "It's definitely Steven Seagal. Steven Seagal has been seen talking to the grand jury.''
Nasso produced seven of Seagal's films, including Under Siege 2, The Times reported. He's also produced other films, including One Eyed King.
Nasso had a 15-year business relationship with Seagal that ended with a bitter falling-out between the two, The Times reported. In March, Nasso filed a $60 million lawsuit against Seagal.
Nasso's attorney, Barry Levin, said that his client and Seagal had been negotiating the breakup of their partnership for nearly 18 months. He suggested that Seagal made up the extortion allegation "to retaliate against Nasso for filing the lawsuit.''
Seagal's attorney would not confirm that the actor was the intended target of the alleged plot, but he did say that the indictment contains no allegation of wrongdoing on the part of Seagal.
Cool, huh?

"Five against the world" is the vow taken by a quintet of childhood chums in Hell’s Kitchen, and now that they’re young men with increasingly divergent interests and responsibilities it sometimes seems everyone’s out to get them in a world where, as someone succinctly puts it, "anybody dies in this neighborhood it’s fifty-fifty he got whacked." So when one of their number, ex-junkie Dennis (Jason Gedrick) is found dead of an overdose on the roof, Frankie (William Baldwin), the conscience of the group, begins to suspect local boss Holly (Armand Assante). His sleuthing leads to unease among the surviving friends (Jim Breuer, Dash Mihok, Joris Jarsky), but with the help of weary cop Eddie (Chazz Palminteri) and ex-girlfriend Helen (Connie Britton), he confronts the guilty party in a bare-knuckle showdown. Set to a cavalcade of vintage rock tunes, Robert Moresco’s directorial debut thrums with the energy of the street and the camaraderie of five young men torn between their allegiances and environment.
— Eddie ****rell
Robert Moresco is an actor, writer, and producer who has appeared in William Richert’s WINTER KILLS (1979), Bob Clark’s TURK 182! (1985), and William Reilly’s MEN OF RESPECT (1991), as well as a 1990 episode of "Law & Order." He has written and produced for the 1996 television program "Millennium" and the 2000 series "Falcone." Going back to the original issue.. The only reason that the terrorists are able to make any money selling their drugs here is because they are illegal.. So I say legalize all drugs. Someone else wants to snort his life away, who the hell am I to tell him no.. I'll take his job.. Tax it at just the right amount to make it financially impossible to make any decent money on it from the black market.
