This is very good news, with Biron and Noronen signed we will for sure have a good goaltender combo for the next couple of years

TSN is saying that Marty got 2 years and $4.1 million ($1.9 million this year and $2.2 million next year). That's more than I figured he'd get, but he's worth it.

I don't get to see many highlights here. Unless you want to see a bunch of wings stuff. The Sabres just like the Bills, get no respect.

I'm glad to see Marty back for now, and at a reasonable price. That means Noronen has to go bye-bye though. It never works when you have 2 young goalies that both think they're #1's. They'll need to find a solid back up though.

Marty's stats last year established him as a top 10 goalie, so the $2 M price tag will make him easy to trade once Miller is ready.

I think Noronen is gone, just not until Miller is proven to be ready to step into a back up role in the NHL.

The first step is getting Miller signed and in Rochester this year. If Miller looks as good as everyone expects he will, then I think Noronen will get shopped around next year's draft.

Competition is a good thing

And either way you look at it we will have 2 goalies that can be #1's. If we get rid of either we still will have Miller. Keep all 3 until Miller is ready for full time NHL duty and then see what is out there for trades. Great goalies are never bad things to have "too many" of.

The danger in hanging on to Noronen now is that his stock could go down. If he's one of those goalies that needs to play 50 games a year to stay sharp, he may suffer. He was the minor league player of the year a couple years ago, and had some good games for the Sabres last year. Now is the time to trade him. Edmonton and Calgary are both looking for young goalies to eventually take over for Salo and Turek.

Once the Sabres have 3 young goalies signed, market value will go down with everyone knowing they can't keep all of them.

You are talking like Noronen's trade value is high now. It's not, right now about 75% of the teams in the NHL have a stud young goalie either on the roster or in their system. There isn't a huge need for teams to pick up Noronen, especially since he's at the stage where he needs to be in the NHL.

The only team that I can think of that would have a need for Noronen and would be a good trading partner would be Vancouver. But they know that nobody else would be bidding against them, so they would lowball the Sabres.

There has to be a market for a player to get good value back. Right now there is no market for Noronen, so the best thing to do is wait. His value could definitely go up if he looks really good this year and other teams have goaltending problems. Clubs like Chicago, LA, Dallas, Toronto, and Boston could become a lot more interested in Noronen depending on how their goaltending looks this year. But they are all set with what they have for this year and likely wouldn't give up a whole lot for Noronen at this point. Plus, the place that you are going to get the most value for a young player like Noronen is at the draft. The Sabres were offering Noronen ina package to get the #2 pick from Atlanta, but it fell through. Now they have to wait until next year's draft to try a similiar move.

Well, Noronen is still going to have a shot in Buffalo. He will play at least 20 games this year. And if something were to happen to Biron (hope not) then Noronen could step in and play admirably. It's too soon to talk about trading Noronen right now. There's too many possibilities between now and May. It's great to have him here for AT LEAST this year. He will keep Biron on his toes. If Biron stumbles and Noronen comes in and starts winning games, people will start talking about trading Biron. Us Buffalo fans can be very back and forth :-)
