This is a great article about Dubya's business career from the biggest newspaper in my home town, The Toronto Star.
Left wing, right wing, I just don't see how any American that works for an honest living can defend this clown.
Here's a guy who never made an honest buck in his life, the only thing he was ever successful at was influence peddling.
Your President, George W. Bush

The president's new pitch
By William Walker
Washington bureau
"I was a bulldog on the pant leg of opportunity."
— George W. Bush, on his career as Texas oilman and baseball owner
"He's not an entrepreneur. He's a welfare recipient."
— James Runzheimer, Texas lawyer and anti-tax activist
WASHINGTON
LONG BEFORE he became president, George W. Bush was a popular figure with fellow oilmen at the Petroleum Club bar in Midland, Texas, chewing tobacco and telling tales over bourbon and beer.
It's how business got done, often on a drunken handshake.
"Y'all don't call the lawyers till the deal is done, they'll just screw it up," an old Texas oil patch saying goes.
Bush, the president, is trying to lead the charge toward "Corporate Responsibility." But Bush, the businessman who felt right at home in that Wild West world of wheeling and dealing, needed the weight of his family name to survive a series of questionable corporate deals that made him a small fortune and left investors holding a near-empty bag."

Is all reporting in the Star this objective and unbiased, or do the writers sometimes take a point of view? :D

I guess the question is, is any of the material incorrect?

Unfortunately that article describes most every politician in America today, at least anyone who has a chance to be elected to a high office.

Doug
Calm down
How is it that considering George W. Bush and Dick Cheney as bad guys is bashing the USA?
Is George Bush the personal embodiment of the country?
Is all criticism of Dubya and his band of corporate pirates automatically criticism of the country?
I don't think so.
And as a Canadian, I have as much right as anyone to express my opinion.
The USA is the most powerful country in the world and what it does has an effect on everyone, including your brothers and sisters to the north.
And that's what we are, brothers and sisters. There is no country in the world closer to the US than Canada, and no country closer to Canada than the US. We're family.
So we don't say these things because we hate you, we're trying to warn you because we love you and don't want to see you hurt, and by extension be hurt ourselves.
It's like trying to tell your brother that his new wife is no damn good. They don't want to believe it because they're still in love, and admitting that you were wrong about the woman brings your judgement into question.
But we have to tell you, we can't just stand by and see you ruin your lives, even though you may hate us for daring to tell you the truth.
George W. Bush is no damn good. He doesn't care about you and he doesn't care about me. He only cares about himself, his family and his cronies.
He's using you and he's ruining your great and wonderful country in the process.

Shiva.
Stop pointing out corporate greed, shady business dealings by Bush/Cheney, and stop using your brain. It's unpatriotic. Be an unquestioning, mindless zealot like the rest of us.
Duh.

Doug, is this a great country or what? There is nothing more American than voicing your displeasure with the government of the US. It's what this country is all about. That's why it's #1 on our Bill of Rights.

Oh yeah right, Bogus. You obviously hate America because you embrace your constitutional rights.
Just ask the right wing!

Now lets not get crazy Joe. Being conservative doesn't automatically make you want to stop on rights. Thats a mighty broad brush you're painting with.

I know. The right wing protects all kinds of rights. The right for Christians to prosetylize using public tax dollars. The right to censor what they, not you or I, find offensive. The right to deny gays constititutional rights. The right to stop women from making the same as men for the same job.
Thank goodness they are protecting America's rights! It would really stink if they only looked out for rich, white, male protestants.
Oh wait...................

The beauty of this post is it's a crock of crap. I'm really sorry for you if you really believe all that.
I guess I've just been to busy censoring, bashing and stepping on women to really notice if that has all been happening.
It's not a broad brush you're using, it's a god damn Wagner power painter.

Hey, unfortunately in a discussion like this both sides can tend to be overly broad. Don't anyone take it personally.

You're right Eric. The GOP has not systematically fought against gays, women, or atheists the past 30 years. Not once.
