I think he swung himself out though.

He was gassed in the finals but the bombs he hit were something. The shot out the window to the kid on the steet was un-figgin-believable.

Sir
July 9th, 2002, 1:53:32 PM
He did completely. He always gets flustered and tired and then his mechanics change. Giambi stuck to a smooth swing.

While I am sure many MLB players are juicing it up you can't tell me for sure who is and who isn't on roids

EricStratton

He did talk it a little seriously. And juice or not, those were bombs.

Sir
July 9th, 2002, 2:00:44 PM
Omar Visquel is NOT on roids.

player thinks everybody is on roids, he even made fun of Bret hart for haing a stroke. And i don't think Sammy is on Roids because he has never ben injured

I would say that less than 5% of baseball players are on roids.

I used to work out like crazy. When I was in school and had the time, I shot up from about 165 to 210 in about 6 months. That is roid free. Just a little help from protein shakes and creatine - on top of creative workouts and proper nutrion to start with. I was always asked if I used the stuff. That is always everyone's first thought. I think supplementation and workout programs have come a long way in the last 10 years.

1. Gabe Kapler

2. Barry Bonds

3, Mcgwire

4. Dante Bichette

5. Bret Boone

I'm just asking, because I really don't know, but don't steroids affect you mentally? And doesn't taking them make other parts of a man's body smaller? I watched a movie on steroids and the guy who were on them, on a regular basis, had "roid rage." Is there such a thing? And can't these players be tested if they are on steroids? Do football players take them too?

bduff54
July 9th, 2002, 2:25:55 PM
jaded, Baseball dosen't ahve steroid testing but they will soon. Yes it can affect them mentally and physically. There jaws tend to become more prominent and their testicles can shrink. As for football players, they get tested nowadays but in the 70's and 80's steroids were pretty commone. (see lyle alzado)

1. Competed in drug-free bodybuilding contests. Was tested and clean.

2. Questionable - has put on lots of size from his Pitt days but is also 38, guys tend to get thicker later.

3. Was on Andro - not a "Steriod"

4. Dante - just plain fat

5. Bret - never really got that big, just started playing everyday.

When i guy puts on 20lbs of muscle in the off-season it raises suspicions. Of course there are players or 'roids because it's not tested in baseball. When guys hit 70 homers in a season when in their prime they could only hit 40. All of a sudden players are jacking it up. It makes you think.

Sosa's reactionto Reilly also makes you wonder about him. The guy went from 165 to 230 (and he's a tank now). He may be legit, but he needs to be tested.

Bduff-WWF wrestlers on 'roids, that's absurd.

bduff54
July 9th, 2002, 2:31:37 PM
eric, can't you be doping andro and steroids??? Boone is huge i ahve seen him with his shirt off on ESPN. Bichette had the biggest biceps ever when he wa on colorado.

bduff54
July 9th, 2002, 2:33:08 PM
player-ofcourse Wrestlers are on roids but to accuse one after he falls off his bike and gets a stroke is just stupid. have you ever seen Bret Hart? he's not huge

Thanks, Bduff. :) So the reason football players don't do steroids is because they're tested for them and it's illegal. How come they don't test all professional athletes? And what's "andro?"

Player6600
July 9th, 2002, 2:36:40 PM
jaded-It's not in baseball's collective bargaining agreement. Andro is what they feed horses to run faster.

bduff54
July 9th, 2002, 2:37:17 PM
"andro" was some substancce they found in Mcgwires locker during the year he broke the record. it wasn't illegal though. I think he was on roids though, just look at the injury problems

EricStratton
July 9th, 2002, 2:39:12 PM
Duff, I say Andro not a steroid in quotes because it's practically one. Guys who get big can do it the right way, they have nothing to do but workout and with all the "legal" stuff on the market it's not out of the question to put on 15, 20,30 pounds in 6 months anymore.

On the Bret Hart topic Duff, with all the crap around wrestling it's not a stretch to think ANY wrestler in the past 20 years was or is on something. They get painted with a broad brush but it's something the industry brought on itself.

But if it's illegal, why wouldn't they allow testing? I don't understand that. And why would any sane person take a drug that they give horses????? That's just crazy!

So they take the steroids so they can bulk up and hit the ball farther? And they take andro so they can run faster?

Andro helps in building and repairing muscle Jaded.

As far as why do players take the stuff, 40 hr's gets you $12 million. Why do you think?

billsfanone
July 9th, 2002, 2:46:55 PM
Bduff, those physical changes are caused by growth hormones, not steroids.

I have done a lot of research on them. Typically, they do not cause any mental changes. Roid rage is usually blamed on the roids (duh, right?). But it the person that is crazy enough to take roids that is more likely to get into trouble, roids or no roids.

The only real physical change is the shutdown of the body’s production of testosterone. That has many side-effects (small testicles, acne, etc.)

bduff54
July 9th, 2002, 2:47:06 PM
i gotta admit. i'd take it for 12 million

EricStratton
July 9th, 2002, 2:49:40 PM
It's the athlete mentality.

In the 70's 100 MLB pitchers were asked if they would take a pill that guarenteed 20 wins but could take 5 years off your life would you take it and 85 or so said yes.

I don't know, I'm not a professional athlete but I don't think I'd take anything that could potentially hurt my body.

And my job could test me. I don't do any drugs at all. Never have, never will. Drinking is about as bad as it gets for me. :)

unless it's in your contract that can't test you. It goes against the charter of human rights

But they do test for some professions, right? I mean I don't want a doped up pilot flying the plane I'm on. Or a drunk air tower guy directing the planes. Doctors are another profession I think should be tested.

Player6600

They aren't tested for drugs and only the proper authorities can test for alcohol if their is sufficient cause.

Most workplaces have drug testing as a condition of employment. You don't have to be tested but then again the company doesn't have to keep you employed. It's part of all the paperwork you sign without reading the first day on the job.

MLB is the only major sport without testing in its CBA. That's a chip on the table during the next contract talks.

Hey guys I just asked to see if you saw Sosa's homeruns!!! They were SHOTS!!!! Who cares what someone else does with their own body??? We should worry about ourselves, unless what that person does harms me in some way I could care less!!!:calm:

Thurm, did you see the shot in BP that broke the lights on the scoreboard. Looked like his longest of the night.

It actually looked like Giambi was trying to hit the $1,000,000 sign in his first round.
