Hurricanes will trade defenseman
TheFourthPeriod.com
With a surplus of defensemen, the Raleigh News & Observer reports the Hurricanes will trade one of them to meet the club's internal salary cap.
Yesterday, the team re-signed restricted free agent rearguard Dennis Seidenberg to a one-year, $1.2 million deal.
The signing means GM Jim Rurthford will have to move a defenseman before training camp.
According to the News & Observer, Hurricanes ownership has implemented its own $45 million cap. The team currently stands at $48.5 million.
"We'll still look to move a defenseman," Rutherford told the paper. "I would think in the near future, that would end up happening."
It's believed Frantisek Kaberle and Niclas Wallin are the most likely trade options, however Wallin has a no-trade clause and would have to accept a move.
I think Kaberle would be a nice fit. If we could move Max for Kab we would be in nice shape.

If they are looking to dump Salary then Max wouldnt be the guy we move.
Also I dont see any D men on that team in which i would really really want and i dont want to help out those pieces of crap anyways !

Nah....Sign Teppo for about 1 mill., and you have Paetsch as a #7, then you have Weber as the 1st call-up!!

What's more interesting to me is that the Canes have a lower "internal cap" than the "more cheap than any organization in the history of Man" Sabres.

I like that. We traded Soup for Rivet, dropped that tree like a bad habbit (bout time!), Andrej grows up real fast next to Teppo and Web grows up over the course of the season...
Not bad, Smith would have made our D one of the best in the East, but oh well. We're still pretty solid if we can convince Tep to get back in there (even in a limited role).

I'm sorry, but unless Tallinder and Lydman took "Insta-Aggressor Supplements" this off-season, our defense is still suspect.
Sign Teppo and keep Weber for the first call-up?

Weber is the only guy who will cross-check someone out of the crease (I think Rivet will do it, but I'll believe it when I see it)
Patches as the #7 d-man?....ughh, I give the kid credit for coming back from near neurological death last season, but he's no top 4 d-man...

No one to right home about with those D-men the canes have. If we did bring in Smith we would have been more solid then ever. I am not a fan of Nathan Paetsch, I would pick Weber over him. I like Teppo alot and I hope he returns but we do need a little more then just him to make us a legit competitor again.

Tallinder and Lydman will do fine as long as they aren't asked to be the top 4 D like they were last year.
There were times when we had a 7 playing 4, and a 6 playing 3.
The D as it is - is not "all world" but in a heck of a lot better situation than last year.

I get the feeling that we're done dealing.

It means he doesn't have it in him to play at that calibre...
I don't like anchoring the bottom of the defensive rotation with Numminen and Paetsch...
Essentially trading Campbell for Rivet is an ok move...
But what have we done to improve the lower end of the defense?
Numminen, Pratt, Paetsch?
C'omn, now...two of those guys are old and one isn't going to break the top 4 on ANY team...
Time to upgrade...or rather, that time passed.

Okay, so you are seriously suggesting that we have, as our 7th D-man, some guy who could be a #4.
Why would that guy then NOT already be a #4 somewhere then? Magic?
Please. Pasty is fine as a #7.
