Ok guys . . . all my chips (which is admittedly not that many) to whoever can provide proof of three accurate predictions occurring 24 hours in advance of any trade/signing that have happened in the last year.

Eklund is a retard. He couldn't find a bag of pucks in a hockey locker room.

It's obvious that he intentionall throws the Sabres into the majority of "rumors" he throws out there because he gets tons of play from it.

He knows he has a huge reading audience of Sabres fans and because of that, every time he puts their name into a "rumor" or "inside info" story, he gets more exposure on places like message boards, talk radio, and other forms of media.

It's a great marketing strategy if you don't care about lying and deceiving people and sacrificing your own integrity......which he obviously does not.

I've been saying the same thing for a while. There are a lot of Sabres fan on that site. He seems to throw Buffalo in every other rumor, yet the Sabres rarely make a move. He does it for several other big hockey market teams, too.

My most memorable Eklund rumor was when he said his "sources" told him Buffalo was talking to Pratt. Of course, this was two days after the Buffalo News posted an article saying the same thing.

Yet, morons here CONSTANTLY post his rumors and all that other crap like the four period or whatever.

Once I see a link or rumor is from one of those sites, I don't bother reading the rest of the thread.

He posted hours after Bernier was traded that it was the beginning of something big. Later that day we got Rivet.

To be fair, any idiot with half a brain and some hockey sense would know that trading away a 23 year old player for draft picks makes no sense by itself. It would have to be part of something bigger, and something bigger could mean any other move by the same team. Whether its another trade or signing a player that's your something bigger.

Just to play devils advocate, how many players even know 24 hours before the news media knows? Word travels pretty fast, man. And at 24 hours prior any number of teams could be talking to a player and thinking they have the best shot at signing them. This could cause people to leak things and then get to Eklunds sources and then it ends up on Hockeybuzz. Notice the heavy use of "may", "might", and "could" on the site. It's a rumor site, not a crystal ball.

Personally, I have no problem with the Eklund site. Clearly the site is just for entertainment purposes, and I check the site everyday. I don't take every rumor seriously, but I think its fun to think about different scenarios that might pan out. I think people expect his rumors to be a magic 8 ball and take them WAY too seriously.

Eklund's rumors suck, but you are right. It does get people talking about hockey and the message board can be interesting because there are fans of most every team there.
