View Full Version : Still nothing from Rivet? Rumors are that he is pissed

A lot of Sharks fans are saying Rivet is pissed, which is why he hasn't commented on the trade yet.

Most of them are saying he is upset with Doug Wilson for not letting him know.

Hopefully it has nothing to do with him coming to Buffalo.

Sharks fans haven't heard anything from him, same as us. Whatever they've said is made up.

I think thats where it is coming from, he hasn't said anything so they think he is upset.

Hopefully WGR can get him on today.

It was the holiday weekend and it is the summer. We will probably here something from him in the coming days but if we don't I could care less. He is a professional he will play great where ever he plays.

This is from a guy named Razor32 on Sabrefans. Supposedly he has a reliable source connected to the Sabres and has proven himself trustworthy on these matters in the past. Thread was posted the day after the trade and is titled, "Rivet happy to be a Sabre."

"Rivet liked San Jose but saw writing on wall with SJ bringing in Blake/Boyle, so not too surprised. Figures Kyle McLaren may be next to leave San Jose pretty soon to further make blueline room.

Best part he likes about trade is that he gets to play hockey close to his hometown where he grew up in North Bay, ONTARIO citing a 5 hour drive for his family and friends to come see him play. Also many friends in Kingston area, even less of a drive from there, so very excited about that is he and his family/friends.

Enjoyed the Habs/Sabres rivalry games and recalls his fight with Rob Ray in Buffalo some 10 years back. Believes Adam Mair to be be only current Sabre he has fought. (didn't count the Afinogenov altercation!)

Rivet will wear #52 in Buffalo, only 2nd player in team history to wear that number, last worn by Dave Andreychuk!! "

I wouldnt read too much into him being pissed. Would he have liked Wilson to be upfront with him or notify him...probably, but its all water under the bridge now. Hes a professional and a leader, things we will be seeing from him quite soon.

ofcourse he is pissed, he went from a serious cup contender next year to a team that's goal is to make the playoffs. atleast thats what i think buffalos goal should be.

Toronto's goal should be Taverres...because thats the only thing they'll be in contention for.

And the Queefs are notorious for blunders...they'll screw that one up too.

Arguably our best defenseman played only 1 game all year, 2 captains leave, younger players were forced to grow into their roles much sooner than expected. Before that we were a contender, and still will be....he isnt/wont be pissed.

Don't take Bduff seriously. We would all be grumpy too if our team's big offseason acquisition was Jeff Finger.

First, I wouldn't call the Sharks a serious cup contender when they really didn't upgrade much. You can pretty much say Boyle is the new Campbell and Blake is the new Rivet. They played terrible in the playoffs last year and they didn't make their roster any better. Also, Detroit pretty much has the West locked up. Secondly, everyone's goal is to make the playoffs because anything can happen there. I feel that a lot of good players that were in the east got shipped out west therefore making the east a little easier with competition. Out of the teams that made the playoffs last year I would say only one team got better in NJ. Montreal, Pittsburgh, Washington, Rangers, Flyers, Senators and Bruins all got worse. Rivet probably feels better coming here because he knows that he could lead a young team to the finals in a weaker conference. He is probably happy to get away from Detroit, Dallas and Anaheim.

i agree, was that supposed to make me mad?

sometimes i wonder if you guys even get what i am about.

Gimme a break guys, rivet is 33 years old, the sharks are a lock for the playoffs this year and probably top 4 in the conference again.

Ofcourse he would have like to stay in San jose and take a run at the cup.

The sabres are not really in that kind of position just yet.

Take it for what its worth...I'm just stating what I believe will be fact.
I'm sure San Jose has a lot of upside but maybe Buffalo does to for Rivet.

If you want to know why it took 3.5 million to sign the 2nd coming of Rory Fitzpatrick in Toronto, these are the Leaves forwards under contract. Can you say, "10 year rebuilding plan?"

Nik Antropov, Jason Blake, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Niklas Hagman, Alex Steen, Grabovski, Dominic Moore, Boyd Devereaux, Jiri Tlusty, Nikolai Kulemin, Mark Bell and the eventually re-signing, Matt Stajan.

HAHAHAHAHA. One nice thing about it is that you can pretty much sign off on 8 guaranteed wins for the Sabres next year.

The East is wide open, even moreso than last year since a lot of teams were weakened in free agency. I could see any of ten or eleven teams coming out of the conference, including Buffalo (not the Leafs, of course. Good luck getting Tavares.)

The West is looking like the much tougher conference.

be honest, you know nothing about jeff finger, neither do i.

we will see how he turns out, and i think it will be a 3 year plan.

no way sabres win all 8 this year, i say it is 5-3 sabres.

So throwing ridiculous money at second tier free agents constitutes rebuilding?

Even with the crap talent they have, i doubt the players will be playing to win this year. Not after this despicable witch hunt the Leaves FO has been propagating all year towards McCabe. 6-0 Sabs. I doubt the Leaves get double digit wins this year.

it was one signing, hagman was a fair deal.

again we don't know how finger will turn out, you guys pay craig rivet 3.5.

finger could have a better year than him next year.

So you love paying 3.5 million a year for a defenseman with 94 career NHL games, and of which their is a rumor going around that they mistook him for somebody else? I know you are all excited for your quest for Tavares, but your Leafs could at least pretend they are trying. My greatest hope for next year is the Leafs finish last in the league and lose the draft lottery.

lol, they did not mistake him for sauer, come on now.

i agree that the money is shocking but i really know nothing about him, lets see how he plays first before passing judgement.
